Transparent conductors are important components

in optoelectronic devices such as touch panel,

flexible display, organic photovoltaic (OPV) cell and

organic light-emitting diode (OLED) etc. Tin doped

indium oxide (ITO) has dominated the field due to

its superior performance and mature process

technology. However, brittle ITO is not suitable for

flexible electronics. Among the alternatives to ITO,

metal nanowires are considered to be the most

promising as they have advantages of flexibility,

printability, lower cost and a lot of yet-to-be-

discovered potentials.

The NAMI developed nanomaterial based

transparent conductive film by coating a thin

layer of silver nanowires on flexible substrate to

achieve high conductivity, good transparency and

excellent flexibility.

Silver Nanowires

Solution synthesized Ag nanowires (<100nm in

diameter with a high aspect ratio) were first mono

dispersed in solvent based inks with additives. Inks

with proper rheology characteristics can be

uniformly coated on substrate by a scalable method

to form a random network consisting of high aspect

ratio AgNW. The silver network ensures a good

conductivity of the coated film and delivers a high

transparency by controlling the aspect ratio of the

wire and the film thickness.
