Reactions 1270 - 19 Sep 2009 Peginterferon-α-2a/peginterferon- α-2b/ribavirin Fatigue, mild insomnia and loss of appetite: 2 case reports Two patients developed fatigue and mild insomnia during treatment with peginterferon-α-2a (patient 1) or peginterferon-α-2b (patient 2) plus ribavirin [dosages not stated] for hepatitis C virus infection; patient 1 also developed loss of appetite. Patient 1, a 66-year-old woman, started receiving peginterferon-α-2a and ribavirin and, after an unspecified duration, developed fatigue, mild insomnia and loss of appetite; she had paranoid schizophrenia and had been stable on risperidone for 12 months. Patient 2, a 53-year-old man, started receiving a 48-week course of peginterferon-α-2b and ribavirin and, after an unspecified duration, developed fatigue and mild insomnia; he had been diagnosed with organic psychotic disorder and was receiving clozapine.
