D. A. PERCIVAL, (M.P. 11157/57.) Director of Commerce and Industry.
EXPLANATORY NOTE. (This Note is not part of the Licence but is intended to explain its general purport). This Open General Licence replaces Licence No. 20000, incorporating the amend
ments made thereto in October, 1956, and including a few new items. Rice, sugar, coffee and edible vegetable oils have been excluded. Spain and Iceland are added to the countries to which the Licence applies.
The amendments to the Second Schedule mean that specific licences will in future be required for certain classes of goods hitherto on Open General Licence, when imported from the Middle Eastern countries listed in that Schedule.
The import of many goods included in the Open General Licence is subject to a licence under the hand of the Director of Agriculture or other appropriate Authority, as the case may be. The fact that any such goods are included in this Open General Licence does not mean that import will be permitted unless the importer holds the necessary licence from the appropriate Authority.
