    1. 1st International Cyprus Music Festival 2013: A few wordsCyprus, albeit small in geographical size, has a high performance to exhibit in the cultural sector (music, dance, theatre and so on ..) In fact, wherever one ventures to tread on the island, one is sure to come across a kaleidoscope of the remains of a culture of bygone eras that stand witness of an island steeped in history. We, the inhabitants of this blessed land and the heirs of its rich cultural bequest which, having withstood time, was handed down to us by our forefathers, have the supreme duty, and commitment, to project, at every opportunity the true principles and values as well as the ideals of our people. In view of further supporting the local cultural creativity, we proceeded to establishing a music festival with prospects of becoming an institution as well as a bridge of communication, cooperation and solidarity between youths from the four corners of the planet through a common code; the code of music.

    Alambra

    3. Alambra: A history that takes us back to the beginning of centuriesAlambra, a village of the Lefkosia district, is located approximately 21 kilometres from the capital city and it is built on an altitude of 250 metres. Northeast of the village, a series of archaeological digs have brought to light a settlement of the Middle Cooper Age and a cemetery.

Name1.The name of the village is compounded by the privative affix a and the Greek word lambron, which means fire. Therefore, according to the Great Cyprus Encyclopaedia, the naming explains that it is a village that does not face the danger of fire. 2.According to tradition, the naming of the village is linked with the saving intervention of Agia Marina during a fire. In particular, as

the Community Council narrates, while the fire storm was threateningly getting closer to the village and the thick forest surrounding it, the residents gathered terrified at a location and began praying. Suddenly, as they were praying, they saw Agia Marina approaching. Agia Marina leaned with them, raised her hands and shouted three times Alambra, which means Without Fire. Soon, the fire subsided and the village was saved. The location, where the residents had gathered, was named Deisis, meaning prayer, whereas the village was named Alambra, that is a village that does not face the danger of fire. 3.What is worth mentioning is that this name has remained the same ever since the 5th century B.C. As the cooper plate of Idalio reveals, the village has had the same name since the year 450 B.C., when the plate was made.
