RotaractClub of Larnaca - Kition

SEPTEMBER 2013

Charity Car WashRotaract Larnaca Kition in coop-eration with IN & OUT Car Wash, organized an all-day charity Car Wash on Saturday, 7th of Septem-ber. Homemade muffins, cakes and cookies were baked from the mem-bers and sold to those who waited for their car to be washed. A total of 110 cars were washed that Saturday and 450 Euros was collected and given to St Lazarus Center for Special Needs People, a Centre which provides its services to adults who suffer from mild, me-dium and intellectual disabilities.

Blood DonationFor the second year in a row, Ro-taract Larnaca Kition decided this season to give something that money cant buy and so members organized a blood donation. One donation can help save the lives of up to three people. Rotaract Lar-naca Kition members and friends met at the hospital at 10AM to give blood. Donors were given a mini-physical examination to ensure it is safe for the donor to give blood. Special thanks goes to the hospital staff that were there to help our purpose, those who came to do-nate blood, and those who came just for support.

Charity Christmas BazaarRotaract Larnaca Kition, Larnaca In-teractors and the Larnaca Multiple Sclerosis Association joined forces to organize a Christmas charity ba-zaar on the 22nd of December. The bazaar took place at Finikoudes from 10 AM until late evening and all proceeds went to the MS Asso-ciation. The bazaar was a fun event with a lot of volunteers from all three clubs. At the bazaar we were selling handmade ornaments, sec-ond hand books, cookies and cakes, different decorations, mulled wine, face painting as well as Santa was present with his elf to take pictures. We also had a dance show prepared by the American Academy Dance club that helped put on the Christ-massy mood. We were joyful to see many Rotaractors from different cities come and support our cause

and we would like to take this op-portunity to thank each and every one separately. An impressive total of almost 2000 Euro was collected.

FEBRUARY 2014

PanCyprian Welfare SupportOn the 8th of February, members of Larnaca Kition, met at Alphamega, to collect foods to support Larnaca Welfare. Members were present at the hypermarkets all morning, giv-ing our leaflets to inform people what the Larnaca Welfare Markets is in need. The collection was a suc-cess and the Municipality of Larna-ca thanked the club on their official website.

Start your dreamOn the 30th of April Rotaract Larna-ca Kition along with Cyprus Human Resource Management Associa-tion organized a free education op-portunities event in order to raise funds for making young peoples educational dreams come true.The goal was to gather money which will be used to get a tuition fee reduction from an Academic Institution. The beneficiaries were young people who are supported by the Municipal Walfare Store of Larnaca and other similar charita-ble organizations

Kataklysmos 2014 FundraiserRotaract Larnaca Kition organized for another year its major fund-raiser during the Katakylsmos cel-ebrations on the 8th and 9th of June. During that time we were of-fering cold drinks, sweets, decora-tive stones, books and poetry and a face-painting table for our young visitors! A net amount of 500 was collected for the Shield of Aiantas in order to buy school supplies for children in need.


InteractClub of Larnaca American Academy

The Interact club of the American Academy Larnaca is a club of ap-proximately 20 members. We have a 5 member committee that this year has worked hard for the orga-nization of our various events.

This has been a successful year; largely due to the close coopera-tion of the Interact club with our sponsoring Rotary club of Larnaca Kition. Members of the club have attended the extremely successful Cheese & Wine event of the Rotary club to

take photographs, play music and promote charity awareness and the club itself through the Rotary clubs facebook page.

This year we have also managed to set the building blocks for what we are hoping to be a long and reward-ing relationship between Interac-tors and Rotaractors.

We have attended the Christmas bazaar of the Rotaract club which was organized in cooperation with the Multiple Sclerosis Association. There we offered face painting, we provided music and dancing done by members of our club and we helped with making Christmas decorations for sale. This event has been high yielding and the com-ments we received were very posi-tive.

During the end of the year we have organized our own live music event at the Barrel House; the money raised will be offered to PASYKAF and the MS association in the com-ing September. Interactors try

to promote local places consid-ered worth going to via fellowship events where Rotarians, Rotarac-tors and Interactors meet to dis-cuss current issues and get to know each other.

Also, one or more of our members have attended most of the club meetings of the Rotaractors so we could keep up with their events, which we have always attended.
