High Resolution Imaging at a 4.5 μm Voxel Size
TheQuantumGXoffersthehighestresolutionamongall themicroCTscannersforin vivoimaging.Thewidefieldofview(FOV)scanningat36mmand72mmallowsforhighresolutionimagingofmice,ratsandrabbits.Thesystemhasthreemodes:highresolution,highspeedandstandardmodes.Asanexample,inthehighresolutionmode,a4.5μmvoxelsizeresolutioncanbeattainedata36x36mmFOV,whilea 9μmvoxelsizeresolutioncanbeattainedat72x72mmFOV.
AnadvancedboneanalysissoftwarepackageisavailableasacompaniontotheQuantumGXthatofferssuperiorvisualizationtoolsforbonesegmentation,BMDmeasurementsandbonemorphologyassessment(trabecularandcorticalparameters)in auser-friendlyworkflow. TheQuantumGXisthefastestmicroCTsystemwithindustryleadingscantimesof8secondsinthehighspeedmode. Withareconstructiontimeof15seconds,a3Dimagecan beacquiredandreconstructedwiththeGXin23seconds.
WiththeQuantumGX,followandcharacterizediseaseprogressionthroughouttheentirestudyusingmicroCTateveryimagingpoint.Usingthe8secondscantimethatisdesigned tosimultaneouslygivelowdoseandgoodimagequality,researcherscanbeconfidentthattheirbiologicalmodelwillremainrelevantthroughoutthespanoftheexperiment.Fastimagingandsmoothworkflowsalsoenablethethroughputrequiredtoscancohortsofanimalsquicklyanddrawsoundconclusionsfromexperimentaldata.
Superior Workflow for High Resolution Scans
TheQuantumGXimagingsystemfeaturesanadvancedworkflowforcreatinghighresolutionimagesfromtheoriginalwholeimagescan.Awholebodyscanisfirsttakenandthenregionsofinterests(ROIs)aredefinedtoreconstructahighresolutionimage.Sincethereisnoneedtorescantheanimal,thethroughputishigherandradiationexposureissignificantlyreduced.ThelargerfieldofviewscanoffersflexibilitytoselectanROIfordetailatalaterstage.SubvolumereconstructionswithvariousresolutionsettingscanbeperformedatanytimeusinganFOVdefinedbytheuser.

Two-Phase Cardiac and Respiratory Gating
ForaccuratemicroCTreconstructionincardiacandrespiratorygatedapplications,itisextremelyimportanttominimizethemotionfromthediaphragmandheart.TheQuantumGX’sadvancedandsimpleintrinsicretrospectivetwo-phasegatingtechniquesareideallysuitedforcardiacandlungfunctionmeasurements.Bysimplydrawingaregionofinterestoverthediaphragmand/orapexoftheheart,theoptionalsoftwarethenreprocessesthedata,usingonlytheviewsfromtheselectedsliceintherespiratoryorcardiaccycle,reducingmotionartifactsin the reconstruction.

Optical Co-registration for Multimodality Imaging
PerkinElmerhasrevolutionizedpreclinical3DopticalimagingwiththeIVISandFMTplatforms.TheQuantumGXmakesmicroCTimagingaseasyasopticalimagingontheIVISandallowsresearcherstoco-registerfunctionalopticalsignalswithanatomicalmicroCTdata.Throughputanduserworkflowhavebeensimplifiedtoseamlesslyco-registeranatomicalandfunctionaldataateverystepofalongitudinalstudy.
Multispecies Imaging
TheQuantumGXfeaturesisatruemultispeciesmicroCTsystemwithaboresizelargeenoughtofitentiremice,ratsandevenrabbits.TheboresizeintheQuantumGXis163mm andwithavailablemouse,ratandrabbitbeds,animalsupto5kgcanbeeasilyimaged.Anentiremousecanbeimagedinonescan.Aratcanbeimagedintwosetsofscansandaguineapigcanbeimagedinthreesetsofscans.
