LEAK-PROOF GREASELESS STOPCOCKS These stopcocks are widely used to handle gases in many applications where contamination by leakage cannot be tolerated. They were first designed by Alfred Stock.

The stopcocks, or valves, consist of a U-tube in which two carefully ground glass seats are inserted. The arms of the stopcock are connected to the system in much the same manner that a conventional stopcock would be used. The reservoir is filled with mercury and the valve is manipulated by alternately applying vacuum or pressure to the reservoir which raises or lowers the mercury column, forcing the glass valves into position. When the seats are closed and the control stopcock closed, leakage cannot occur

• between the two arms of the valve because of the hydraulic force exerted.

Metal cores are provided in the glass check valves so that a magnet may be used for freeing the float in the event of sticking.

Each $16.00 M-30955 Stock Va lve

Larger than M-30950, 15 mm. arms on U-tube. Each $22.00

M-30970 Stock Va lve With special stopcock to provide complete unified control of mercury level. 10 mm. arms on U-tube.

Each $19.50 M-30975 Stock Va lve

Larger than M-30970, 15 mm. arms on U-tube. Each $25.50

Stopcocks with alignment rings are covered by our Patent #2,206,816

We manufacture a complete line of standard taper glassware and a precision line of high vacuum stopcocks, joints, and related items.

Our staff of highly skilled glassblowers is available to construct your apparatus of special design.

A new catalog is in preparation. Write to have your name placed on the mailing list.
