    CHAPTER 1

    INTRODUCTION

    Warning Read theusermanualbeforeoperatingand followall

    safety information. Onlyusethemeterasspecifiedinthisusermanual. Neverusethismeteronacircuitwithvoltagesgreater

    than 600Vrms @ 50/60Hz. Nevermeasure current while the test leads are con-

    nected to the input jacks. Donotoperatethemeterifthebodyortestsleadslook

    damaged. Checktherotaryrangeswitchandmakesureitisatthe

    correct position before each measurement. Donotperformresistanceandcontinuitytestonalive

    circuit. Useextremecautionwhenmeasuringlivesystemswith

    voltage greater than 60VDC or 30VAC. Useextremecarewhenworkingaroundbusbarsand

    bare conductors. Donotusethemeterinoverrange/overloadconditions

    (OL). Foraccuratereadings,changethebatterywhenthe

    symbol appears.

    1.1 International Electrical Symbols

    Thissymbolsignifiesthattheinstrumentisprotectedbydoubleorreinforcedinsulation.Useonlyspecifiedreplacementpartswhenservicingtheinstrument.

    This symbol on the instrument indicates a WARNING and that the operator must refer to the user manual for instructions before operating the instrument. In this manual, the symbol preceding instructions indicates that if the instructions are not followed,bodilyinjury,installation/sampleandproductdamagemay result.

    1.2 Receiving Your ShipmentUponreceivingyourshipment,makesurethatthecontentsareconsis-tentwiththepackinglist.Notifyyourdistributorofanymissingitems.If the equipment appears to be damaged, file a claim immediatelywith thecarrierandnotifyyourdistributoratonce,givingadetaileddescription of any damage.     2.3.2 Disable Auto-off Function

    TurnrotaryswitchtotheOFFposition

    Pressandholddownthe button,thenpowerthemeterON by selecting a range.

    Upon the next power ON, the auto-off function will bereactivated.
