The flow d iagram shows a typical use o f Fansteel-built Tantalum Absorption plants in converting by-product hydrogen chloride gas from a chlorinating operation into marketable hydrochloric acid. The diagram also shows a tantalum sparger tube for introducing chlorine into the reaction kettle and a tantalum reflux condenser to recover the chlorinated product.
The overall economy of tantalum HC1 absorbers is (1) complete freedom from corrosion, (2) freedom from thermal shock, (3) l o w
consumption of cooling water, (4) no contamination o f product ac id , (5) prec i se c o n t r o l and immediate response to adjustment, (6) conservation of space, (7) s imple installation and operation, (8) low maintenance.
Fansteel Absorption Plants, each built for its particular service, are performing splendidly all over the world. We will welcome a consultation on your requirements—for better service at lower cost. Fansteel Metallurgical Corporation, North Chicago, Illinois.
