Resin for Metals Separation

Seelex A-100 is a cross-linked aliphatic condensation resin containing amine and carboxyl groups. The product is available as pale amber, water-swollen granules having a 20/80 mesh size. When used as a stationary bed in a column with aqueous solutions of metal ions, the material will absorb heavy metals in preference to alkali or alkaline earth metals. Typical selectivity is Cd > Cu > Fe > Ni > Co > Hg > Cr » Ca » Na. Seek-ay Chemical Co. 427

Stable-Isotope Tracers

More than 100 standard chemical compounds labeled with atoms of the naturally occurring nonradioactive isotopes Carbon-13, nitrogen-15, and oxygen-18 are now available. Many other labeled compounds can be synthesized to order. Isotope percentages up to 90 for 13C, 99.9 for 15N, and 20 for 1 8 0 can be achieved. Prochem BOC, London SW19 3UF, England

Spect rographs Standards

Spectromel high-purity materials for the preparation of standards for use in semiquantitative emission spectrographs analysis consist of three mixtures. Mixture 1 contains 53 common elements, mixture 2, 8 precious metal elements, and mixture 3,16 rare earth elements including scandium and yttrium. The materials are from Johnson Matthey Chemicals, Ltd., of England. Fisher Scientific Co. 428

Chelating Agents Research chelating agents newly available include iV-benzylethylenedi-aminetriaeetic acid and nitrilodiacet-icpropionic acid. Data and a bibliography are available. LaMont Laboratories 429
