Mixed Ligand Complexes ofSchiff Bases

From β.lactam &Nicotinamide

Schiff bases are usually bi and tridentate ligands capable of forming verystable complexes with transition metals. Many diverse structures of ligandshave been synthesized because of great strength and flexibility of Schiffbases. These find versatile uses in chemistry . Schiff bases appear to beimportant intermediates in a number of enzymatic reactions involvinginteraction of an amino group of the enzyme with a carbonyl group of thesubstrate. Schiff bases are widely used for synthesis purposes by thechemists . Many Schiff bases possess antibacterial, antifungal , antiviral ,anticancer ,antitubercular , anticonvulsant , anti-inflammatory , antitumor ,anti-HIV , anthelmintic and cardiovascular activities.
