WELCOME TO THE UC DAVIS COMMUNITY
The Services for International Students and Scholars welcomes you to California and UC Davis. SISS assists international students and scholars, as well as their families, with visa and immigration issues. SISS provides orientations, assistance, and information to international students, faculty, and researchers regarding financial, personal, cultural, and academic concerns. We also coordinate social and educational programs and events for international students, scholars, and families. We are here to help! Please let us know what else we can do to make UC Davis and California feel like home.

New information has been added to the SISS website specifically for spouses and partners of international students and scholars! For general information on local and regional clubs and for direct links, please visit the Local and Regional Resources page. There are also new opportunities to get involved on campus! Please visit the new “Get Involved” tab on the SISS website. The Spouse, Partner, and Family Opportunities page will be updated through the quarter so check back often. We hope to see you at many events on campus!

The ASCUD Whole Earth Festival (WEF) is a free event that began in 1969. This created an educational process that dared to transcend the
typical system of standardized tests and impersonal lectures, promoting instead a culture of cooperative and participative learning.
May 8 - May 10 at the UC Davis Quad

The festival has evolved over four decades into an enormous zero waste event promoting an eco-friendly spirit occurring every Mothers’ Day Weekend.

Join us for an evening of fun, food, and games for the whole family. Light dinner and games for children will be

May is Bike Month:
Ride your bike to work, school, shopping, dining or for recreation and help UC Davis defend our top spot in the Employer competition.
Participate by logging miles at http://mayisbikemonth.com.
Free Bike Clinic:
The Bike Campaign is giving a free bike clinic at International House on SUNDAY, MAY 17th, 3-5pm. Everyone is invited to bring their bikes for free safety inspections, adjustments, repairs and lots of great information about how to ride a bike in Davis.
Helmets will be available for sale ($5-10).

National Bike Month is a celebration of cycling held every May in the United States.

Hats Off to Diversity High Tea
*Proceeds for the tea go to paying tuition for kids
in Zimbabwe to go to school.
Ongoing Events and Activities
Discuss fun topics, learn about American and other cultures, discuss your own experiences in the U.S. and Davis, and meet domestic and international students and scholars! Discussions will be led by American students.
When: Every Monday (except holidays)* from 5:30-6:30pm

May 25th: NO GEM – Memorial Day
June 1st: Success with Stress: How do you keep up with
your well-being?

Enjoy musical performances accompanied by SISS staff members ONE Thursday each month.
Children, family, and friends are always welcome!
Meet outside the SISS Office at the University House on May 21st at 11:30 am to walk to the Mondavi Center.
Performances are Noon to 1pm.

Every Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoon Davis Central Park hosts the Davis Farmer’s Market.
Come down and see fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, sample delicious chocolates and cheeses, visit one of the food trucks, or just relax in the peaceful atmosphere.
Activities for the whole family include an inflatable slide, bounce castle, carousel, and more.

The UC Davis Farmers Market re-opens at the quad across from the Coffee House on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 !
