o The holy martyr Trifun was born in Kampsada in Phrygia, near the town of Apameia, on the Hellespont in modern Turkey

o His name is derived from the Greek τρυφη (tryphe) meaning "softness, delicacy".

oHis healing abilities were manifested already in his childhood, when he was still tending the geese.

He also healed the Roman Emperor’s daughter Gordiana from mentall illness.

St. Trifun died as a martyr during the rule of the Emperor Decius. He was summoned before the Emperor's regional administrator, Acquillian by name, and ordered to renounce Christ and make offerings to the Roman gods.

In Macedonia, St. Tryphon is Celebrating on 14th February.

The greatest and most festive holiday in the Tikvesh region is the celebration of the Day of St. Trifun, the patron of the grapevine and wine.

The celebration begins with the morning liturgy in the Orthodox churches.

In the morning, the celebrating begins, with cutting of one grape tree.

Then the priest is telling prayer, and he pours red wine on the exact place where the grape tree was cut. People take a piece of the blessed grapevine which is believed to bring good luck and good yields.
