He made a living by begging coins off passing travelers. When word reaches him that Jesus will be passing by, this is when he begins is shouts for mercy. Jesus hears Barmaeus' cry and beckons him forward. "What do you want me to do for you?" Last week, Jesus asked a similar queson to James and John. Their response was a clutch for fame. Barmaeus' response is much humbler. "Lord, I want to see." How strange this interacon must have seemed to the onlookers. The man is blind! Of course he wants to see! But Jesus is always teaching us. By asking us what we want, Jesus reveals the disposions of our hearts. God already knows them, but do we? By asking James and John to name their ambion, their selfishness is exposed to them and to the other disciples. By asking Barmaeus to name his longing, his faith is exposed to the enre crowd. Jesus invites parcipa- on in our own redempon. He doesn't save us without us! Take some me in silent prayer today. Place yourself in this story of Barmaeus. Imagine your- self there on the dusty, crowded roadside. Jesus is calling you! When you stand before him, his focus is on you and you alone. "What do you want me to do for you?" he asks. Search your heart. How would you respond? What part of your heart is Jesus asking you to expose? He has come to heal and to restore. May we, too, be sent! "Go ... your faith has saved you." Our Catholic Cluster, along with the entire Dicoese of Superior is asking our faith family to join in prayer for the Closs family, specifically for Jayme. Pray in your home, in the church or where- ever you may be, between 3pm-4pm, Sunday, October 28th.

P R A Y E R & F A I T H F O R M A T I O N RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR

ORDINARY MOMENTS It was many years ago, but I remember it as if it was yester-day. Before most good basketball players left college early for the NBA draft, the Duke Blue Devils won back-to-back championships in men's basketball. The morning after the second championship, I drove to the campus bookstore in order to be one of the first to purchase commemorative T-shirts: one for me and several more for my parents and wife. A crowd was at the door of the store when I arrived, long before it was open for business. When I finally walked inside, I looked around and saw one shirt in particular I liked. I walked over to it, and as I got close to reaching out to pick it up, a little old lady literally ran into me, spun me around, grabbed the shirt, and shrieked, "It's mine!" As if there was only one shirt in the entire store! Neither of us were entitled to that shirt. In fact, we aren't entitled to much in this life. Rather than searching to get what we think we deserve or trying to beat out others for a better position in this world, our God calls us to focus on helping others to experience the many gifts available to them in this life. We are called to serve instead of be served. Our mission is to sacrifice ourselves and what we desire on this earth for the Kingdom of God. If we are willing to essentially assault someone to get to a T-shirt, what will we do when the stakes are higher? After my initial shock, I wasn't really angry with that lady at Duke. After all, I would like to think that if she simply asked me for it I would have

Attitude of Gratitude

Every week, parishioners and employees of our parishes go over and beyond to make our Catholic Parish Cluster something special! Please contact the parish office if you would like to add someone to this recognition list!

Thank you to all of you who baked cookies for the

community “Gathering of Hope” in Barron. It was greatly appreciated for that evening. All left-overs were then delivered to the officers and volunteers working to assist in the search for Jayme Closs.

‘CALLING’ all parishioners of our cluster family!

Please consider sharing your ‘LOVE’ and…

PACK A SHOEBOX! Imagine being 6 years old, living in a less developed country/community, and being given your first Christmas gift ever! Accompanying the gift is this message, “You have been sent this gift from someone in the United States, who loves God so much and is loved by God so much, that they wanted to share His Word with you!” Wouldn’t you be excited? Wouldn’t you want to hear more about our Lord?

WHAT IS A SHOEBOX GIFT? A shoebox gift is a collection of items, specifically for a boy or girl in an age range that you pack and pray for. The gifts are then collected and sent across the world with the Word of God. Children receive these gifts along with introductory lessons about our Savior, Jesus Christ.

CLUSTER GOAL! PACK OVER 100 BOXES! Shoeboxes and labels are available at the back of church. Please ONLY TAKE A BOX, IF YOU PLAN TO PACK A BOX AND DROP IT OFF WITHIN OUR CLUSTER. Anyone who wishes to help in another way, may 1) Make a monetary donation of $7 (envelopes on display at back of church), to help pay for overseas ship-ping and the 12-lesson discipleship program that is giv-en to the children receiving the boxes; or 2) DONATE SOME ITEMS TO GO INTO A BOX, and our high school students will pack the box. Thank you!

PRAYER FOR STRENGTH AND FAITH: I pray, Dear Lord, see me through these hard times. In these troubling times, I am filled with unspeakable fears. I reach out my hand to you now, and ask you to walk besides me. Please guide me. Please help me hold on strong through the trials and storms. Help me hold on to my faith, in even the darkest hour. Show me Your way. Amen

PRAYER for PRIESTS: O Jesus, I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and tepid priests; for Your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mis-sion fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your lonely and desolate priests; for Your young priests; for Your dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in purgatory. But above all, I recommend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart, and bless them abundantly in
