FABRIC LAB. Mult i f i laments of nylon 6 are extruded on f iber spinning equipment at Fabric Research Laboratories' new lab in Dedham, Mass. The spinning equipment is part of an extensive laboratory for the experimental spinning of synthetic fibers. FRL, a consult ing research organization, will use the facil i t ies for consulting purposes and to carry out fundamental studies on spinning synthetic fibers
BETTER HEATERS. Colloidal graphite dispersed in isopropyl alcohol helps boost the efficiency of this hot water heater being assembled at Payne Products Co., Ann Arbor, Mich. The dispersion, made by Acheson Colloids, Port Huron, Mich., is applied to the bot tom of the heater tanks. Payne says the coating retains up to 8 0 % of the radiant heat normally lost dur ing the heater's operation
ROCKET DUMMY. United Technology Corp. officials look over a full-scale model of the 250,000-pound-thrust solid propellant rocket to be test fired this summer. STUDENT DAY- Some 50 top science students from St. Louis public schools get an inside look at Mon-santo's John F. Queeny plant in St. Louis. The Management Club of the Monsanto plant played host to the students, who toured the plant as part of Chemical Progress Week. The students also heard talks by technical personnel and saw a science film
