Το Κρατικό Θέατρο Βορείου Ελλάδος υποστηρίζοντας την πρωτοβουλία της ευρωβουλευτού καθ. Χρυσούλας Παλιαδέλη, με τη σύμπραξη του Δή-μου της πόλης για την ανάδειξη της Θεσσαλονίκης στο Ευρωκοινοβούλιο, μετέχει με μια παράσταση «τσέπης», βασισμένη στη Λυσιστράτη του Αρι-στοφάνη.

Η συμβολική επιλογή της πολιτικής σκέψης, του δηκτικού λόγου και της βαθιάς ανθρώπινης ματιάς του στον κόσμο, σε μια περίοδο που ευρω-παϊκά κράτη μαστίζονται ή απειλούνται από την κοινωνικο-οικονομική κρίση, ο Αριστοφάνης, απαλλαγμένος από φολκλορικά στοιχεία ή τη χυ-δαιότητα με την οποία αντιμετωπίζεται συχνά, ανοίγει ένα πεδίο διαλό-γου του «τότε» με το «τώρα» και δίνει τη δυνατότητα για μια ανατρεπτική, διαχρονική αλλά και επίκαιρη προσέγγιση στην κατάσταση που επικρατεί σήμερα στην Ευρώπη.

Η θεματολογία της «ουτοπίας» και η γνήσια κριτική – σατιρική διάσταση του έργου του εξασφαλίζουν τις προϋποθέσεις για μια σύγχρονη καλλιτε-χνική δημιουργία με σαφή πολιτική διάσταση.

Ό μύθος της Λυσιστράτης, ιδωμένος μέσα από το πρίσμα των σύγχρονων μορφών πολέμου και των συνεπειών τους, ενσαρκώνεται στις φιγούρες τεσσάρων γυναικών, που ετοιμάζονται να καταλάβουν το Κοινοβούλιο και να απαιτήσουν να σταματήσει ο κάθε είδους πόλεμος.

Στόχος της παράστασης – δρώμενου είναι να αποκτήσει το κείμενο μια παγκόσμια διάσταση, να συνδεθεί με τη σύγχρονη συνθήκη και να υπεν-θυμίσει ότι το στοιχείο της «διαμαρτυρίας» δεν στέκεται ενάντια στην όποια εξουσία, αλλά συμβάλλει στην αφύπνιση και την αναγκαιότητα της συμμετοχής στα κοινά.

The National Theatre of Northern Greece supporting the initiative held by a member of the European Parliament: prof. Chrysoula Paliadeli, and with the collaboration of the Municipality of Thessaloniki as well, targeting to the emergence of the city at the European Parliament, participates with a short theatre performance which is based on the theatrical play by Aris-tophanes Lysistrata.

This symbolic selection of his political thought, his sharp word and his deepest humanistic worldview, during a period in which the European countries were afflicted or they have been under threat from the so-cio-economic crisis, the author Aristophanes, free from any folkloric mo-tifs or from the vulgarity with which his work is often treated, he opens a discussion field between the “past” and the “present” and he gives a pos-sibility for a subversive, a timeless and also timely approach to the current condition in Europe.

The theme of “utopia”, and the original critique and satirical aspect of his work, provide the requirements for the completion of a contemporary, artistic work with concrete political dimensions.

The myth of Lysistrata, given through the perspective of the new forms of war and their implications, is personified as four female figures, who are preparing to occupy the Parliament, and they demand the end of any kind of war.

The goal of this performance/event is the emergence of the universality of this play, its connection to today’s condition, and to remind us that the element of “protesting” does not oppose to any authority, but contrib-utes to raising awareness and to the necessity of getting involved in the public sphere for the common good.

Χαίρομαι ιδιαίτερα που το ΚΘΒΕ, κάνοντας ένα ακόμη βήμα εξωστρέφειας, μεταφέρει ένα κλασικό δείγμα της ελληνικής θεατρικής παράδοσης στο κέντρο της Ευρώπης. Με τη Λυσιστράτη, την κλασική αριστοφανική ηρωίδα, «εκπροσωπείται» στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο σχολιάζοντας την οικονομική κρίση και μεταφέροντας τις διαχρονικές ανησυχίες των απλών ανθρώπων για τον πόλεμο, με όποια μορφή αυτός κάθε φορά διεξάγεται. Ευχόμαστε από καρδιάς κάθε επιτυχία και ελπίζουμε ανάλογες πρωτο-βουλίες ανάδειξης του Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού να βρουν ανταπόκριση αλλά και συνέχεια, στις δύσκολες εποχές που διανύουμε.

Η συμμετοχή του ΚΘΒΕ στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο είναι ιδιαίτερα τι-μητική για εμάς αλλά και ουσιαστική τόσο για την ανάδειξη της πόλης της Θεσσαλονίκης όσο και για τον ενεργό ρόλο που ένα Κρατικό Θέατρο οφείλει να διαδραματίζει σε διεθνές επίπεδο.

Ευελπιστούμε ότι το “Lysistrata Project”, –μια παράσταση «τσέπης» βασι-σμένης στο διαχρονικό και πολιτικά επίκαιρο έργο του Αριστοφάνη– θα αποτελέσει το έναυσμα για έναν ανοιχτό διάλογο για θέματα που απα-σχολούν σήμερα τους λαούς της Ευρώπης και θα υπογραμμίσει την ανα-γκαιότητα της συμμετοχής των πολιτών στα κοινά.

I am particularly happy about the fact that the NTNG, in yet another ges-ture of extroversion, presents an adaptation of a classic sample of the Greek theatre tradition, in the heart of Europe. Lysistrata, the classical heroine of Aristophanes, is the NTNG’s “representative” in the European Parliament, commenting on the economic crisis and conveying the time-ly agony of the everyday people in the face of the war, in whichever form this war might be. We heartily wish every success and we are looking forward to the development of further, corresponding initiatives on the emergence of Greek Culture, as well as to their persistence, as we are thriving through difficult times.

The participation of the NTNG in the European Parliament is of great hon-or, not only for our institution, but also for the substantial emergence of the city of Thessaloniki, and the active role a National Theatre should play at the international level. Μέσα στην καρδιά του εικοσαετούς Πελοποννησιακού Πολέμου, το 411 π.Χ., ο Αριστοφάνης επινοεί τη Λυσιστράτη. Η ηρωίδα του ομώνυμου έργου του, συ-γκεντρώνει τις γυναίκες από όλες τις περιοχές της χώρας για να τους προτείνει ένα σχέδιο εξόδου από τον πόλεμο. Το σχέδιο που έχει συλλάβει η Λυσιστράτη, έχοντας σαν απώτερο στόχο την επίτευξη της ειρήνης, είναι διπλό. Από τη μια η σεξουαλική αποχή. Από την άλλη η κατάληψη του δημοσίου ταμείου. Μέσα σε αυτό το πλαίσιο ξετυλίγεται το κωμικό στοιχείο και η πολιτική διάσταση του έργου.

Η Λυσιστράτη, αυτή η ιδεαλίστρια, στο έργο του Αριστοφάνη, καταφέρνει τελικά να πραγματοποιήσει το όνειρό της. Χάρη στο «λαμπερό και εύθραυστο» σχέδιο της ηρωίδας, στο τέλος του έργου η συμφιλίωση είναι ο μεγάλος νικητής. Με ποιον όμως συνδιαλέγεται η Λυσιστράτη, αν η πλοκή της κωμωδίας του Αριστο-φάνη μεταφερθεί στην καρδιά της Ευρώπης; Ποιος είναι ο στόχος της μέσα στην έδρα του Κοινοβουλίου; Όι γυναίκες που καλεί θα μπορούσαν να είναι οι εκπρό-σωποι των χωρών της Μεσόγειου που έχουν πληγεί από την οικονομική κρίση. Και η ειρήνη που θέλει να επιβάλει είναι η αφύπνιση της συνείδησής τους. Και ο πόλεμος; Μήπως είναι αυτό που στέκεται πάνω από τα κεφάλια όλων μας και φοβόμαστε πότε θα ξεσπάσει;

Deep in the heart of the Peloponnesian War, which lasted twenty years, in 411 B.C., Aristophanes introduced Lysistrata. The heroine of the play with the same name gathers all women that live in different areas of her country, in order to propose to them an exit plan from the war. The plan of Lysistrata to attain peace is two-fold. On the one hand stands the sexual abstention. On the other hand stands the seizure of the public fund. The element of comedy and the political dimensions of the play are unfolded in this context.

Lysistrata, a true idealist, manages to fulfill her dream in the play by Aristo-phanes. Due to her “bright and fragile” plan, reconciliation is the great winner in the final scene of the play. However, who can be Lysistrata’s negotiator, if we decide to set the plot in the center of Europe? What is her target inside the Parlia-ment? The women she calls to action might have been the representatives of the Mediterranean countries that are afflicted by the economic crisis. The peace she wants to accomplish might have been the raise of their awareness. What about the war? Is it, by any chance, this thing hanging over our heads, while we are all terrified by the idea it’s soon going to burst?

Είναι ιδιαίτερη χαρά μου να φιλοξενώ στις Βρυξέλλες, στους χώρους του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου, ένα θεατρικό δρώμενο πάνω στη Λυσιστράτη του Αριστοφάνη, που ετοιμάστηκε από το ΚΘΒΕ με αφορμή την έκθεση “Thessaloniki 316 BC - 2014 AD. A cultural crossroads through time and space”, την υλοποίηση της οποίας υποστήριξαν με ενθουσιασμό ο Δήμαρχος Γιάννης Μπουτάρης και η Αντιδήμαρχος Πολιτισμού Έλλη Χρυσίδου.

Για την ευαισθησία τους να μοιραστούν μαζί μου την αγάπη για την πόλη μας, σε μια περίοδο που έχει μέγιστη ανάγκη για προβολή και εξωστρέ-φεια, ευχαριστώ θερμά τον Καλλιτεχνικό Διευθυντή Γιάννη Βούρο και το ΔΣ του ΚΘΒΕ, τον σκηνοθέτη Γιάννη Παρασκευόπουλο, και τις ηθοποιούς Γιολάντα Μπαλαούρα, Λουκία Βασιλείου, Ιωάννα Παγιατάκη και Μομώ Βλάχου.

It’s my pleasure to host in Brussels, at the premises of the European Par-liament, a theatrical performance based on the famous Aristophanes comedy Lysistrata. This performance has been specifically prepared by the NTNG (National Theatre of Northern Greece), on the occasion of the exhibition under the title “Thessaloniki 316 BC - 2014 AD. A cultural cross-roads through time and space”, supported from the very first moment with great enthusiasm by the Mayor of Thessaloniki Giannis Boutaris and the Deputy Mayor of Culture Elli Chrysidou.

For their intention to share with me the love for our city, during a period that the promotion and extroversion of Thessaloniki is crucial, I would also like to thank the Artistic Director of NTNG Giannis Vouros, the Board of Directors of NTNG, the director Giannis Paraskevopoulos and the ac-tresses Giolanda Balaoura, Loukia Vasileiou, Ioanna Pagiataki and Momo Vlachou.
