Hymn of the Holy Trinity
Blessed are You, O Christ our God. You made the fishermen all-wise by sending down upon
them the Holy Spirit, and through them You drew the world into Your net. O lover of mankind,
glory to You.
Church Etiquette
When attending Divine Services we will have the responsibility of maintaining proper decorum and atmosphere in
the church. The very first thing to keep in mind is that we are to be at Divine Services on time.
The church is the house of God. Reverence and good manners are required at all times. Not irreverent or irrelevant
conversations should go on in the Narthex or in the church proper. There are certain times during the Divine Services when
no one should be moving about, or entering the church, or being seated at a pew. Wherever a person happens to be at these
moments, he or she should stop and stand reverently until the proper moment to be seated. These times are:
1. During the Doxology, when the priest is censing.
2. During the small Entrance - the procession of the priest and Altar servers with the Holy Gospel.
3. When the priest cense the Altar, icons, and congregation throughout the Service.
4. During the reading of the Epistle and Gospel.
5. During the Great Entrance - the procession of the priest and the Altar servers with the Holy Gifts.
6. During the recitation of the Creed of Faith and the Lord’s Prayer (Our Father).
7. During the Consecration of the Holy Gifts. (Se Imnoumen Hymn)
8. During Holy Communion.
9. When receiving any Sacrament of the church, use your baptismal/chrimation name.
10. During any special services such as Memorials or Blessing or the Loaves, special Doxologies, etc.
The General rule is that whenever the priest is outside the Holy Altar either with the censer or giving a blessing,
there should be no movement in the church. Also, we remind everyone that we should attend the Divine Liturgy and all
services of Divine Worship from the beginning.
Please remember that church council members are obligated to maintain order and decorum in the church during
worship. Please try to understand us. Cooperate with us. The priests are here to serve you. Your cooperation in following
these regulations will help us greatly offering you assistance in all your spiritual needs.
Priest’s Message Beloved in Christ,
With the Christmas holiday season approaching, we are given a wonderful opportunity with the Christmas Fast, which
begins on November 15, to revisit our priorities and renew our relationship with Christ and His Holy Orthodox Church –
and through this spiritual renewal we will understand that we have so much to be thankful for.
Renewal and gratitude; this may seem an abnormal response when facing sorrow, tragedy, and suffering. Yet in the
prophecies of the Old Testament it was in the context of destruction and anguish that the holy prophets reassured the ancient
Israelites that God was with them: “For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but My steadfast love shall not
depart you, and My covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, Who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10).
However, while speaking with hope of God’s love and fidelity toward His creation, there was the underlying prophetic call
to repentance – that is, the need for God’s people to change their minds and hearts and follow Him. How much more true in
our times is the need for each of us – as members of Christ’s Body – to pause prayerfully and reflect on the evil and disorder
that abounds and be honest about the ways that we who are made in God’s image and likeness participate in evil or behave
unnaturally by giving in to the passions, bad thoughts, unkind words, and sinful actions. We are given the opportunity to
genuinely be sorry for our sins and bad habits and to repent, confess, and ask forgiveness from God and those whom we
have offended.
Through the process of repentance, we – personally and as a community – can experience in a real and powerful way the
love and mercy of Christ our God, Who came in the flesh to redeem us, deliver us, and reconcile us with Him and one
another in His Kingdom. We do this by confessing our sins, forgiving our enemies, and receiving of the Holy and Life-
Giving Body and Blood of Christ every Sunday at Holy Communion.
The doors of the church are always open to those who are looking for a genuine relationship with Christ based on
knowledge and personal experience of the transcendent and eternal God.
With love in Christ,
Fr. Kosta
Humans Were Created in the Image of God
Christ is called “the New Adam” and “the New Man” because He restored in His person our humanity to what it was before
the fall in the Garden of Eden. Human nature was originally created for God. Our minds and desires were made to follow
His will. We have been given a mind to know Christ, a desire to run to Him, and a memory to remember Him. After all, in
our creation He was the archetype. Because the old (original) Adam was not the model of the New Adam (Christ), but the
New Adam was what Adam and Eve were meant to be. And if it is said that the New Adam was born "in the likeness of the
old", this is said in connection with the corruption brought in the world by the old Adam and inherited by Jesus in order to
abolish this disease of nature we brought into the world, by the means of healing, and as St. Paul says, "that the mortal
should be put to death" (2 Cor. 5: 4).
Of course, according to the natural order of things, the old Adam is our ancestor, so we inherited the consequences he
suffered after the Fall: corruption and death. But for God, Who knows everything before it happens, the old is the imitation
of the New. Man was created according to the mind and image of God, but did not remain in it. Or maybe Adam and Eve
started their journey toward becoming the image and likeness of God, but did not finish their journey. That's why Adam
received the law, but Christ fulfilled it. Obedience was asked of the old Adam, but the New One fulfilled that obedience
"unto death on the Cross" (Phil. 2: 8), as Paul says. Adam, in violation of the law, revealed that he did not have what human
beings should have. But the Second Adam was always perfect. That is why he says, "I have kept my Father's
commandments" (John 15:10).
Christ brought life to the world. He was the father of the people of perfect life, that is, immortal life. Our nature, of course,
leaned towards immortality from the beginning, but it arrived to immortality later, thanks to the Body of the Saviour, who
resurrected Himself from the dead into immortal life and became our genuine leader of immortality. And to summarize:
First and foremost, the Saviour showed the true and perfect human both in His morals and in His life and in everything else.
So this is the destiny of man, which God had intended for him when he created him: eternal life. He will receive it when he
releases his body from corruption and his will from sin. Then life will be perfected, when the Creator has done to us all that
He knows we need, just as the beauty of a statue is completed in the last few touches of the craftsman. So if the old Adam
was far from perfection, while the New One was always perfect and transmitted perfection to humans and adapted to
Himself all humans, how can we not think that the Christ is the archetype from which the old Adam came? Because it is
utterly inappropriate to think that the perfect imitates the imperfect and the inferior becomes the model for the perfect, or
that the blind guides the one who sees.
So for all these reasons, man is directed to Christ by nature, will, and thoughts. Not only because of the Christ-like divinity
that is the ultimate goal of all of us, but also because of the Christ's human nature. Christ is the abode of human desires. He
nurtures our thoughts. To love or to think of anything other than Him is a deviation from the right and a diversion from the
conditions that have been laid down in nature from the beginning.

Stewardship is an act of faith. When we believe, stewardship follows. Stewardship is caring for our church community
and its members. It is faith in action; action motivated by humble gratitude to God for his blessings in our life. Our
church is a tremendous blessing in our lives. Each member is indispensable for the well-being and functioning of our
parish. We thank all who have taken the time to submit their membership dues already.
There will come a time for each one of us when we shall no longer be able to give. When death comes, our giving will
be over. For all eternity God will be doing the giving to us. So, the time for us to give is now. The time for us to love
is now. The time for us to share what God has given us is now.
