City of Athens:

The sprawling city is bounded on three sides by Mt Ymettos, Mt Parnitha and

Mt Pendeli; whilst inside Athens are twelve hills, the seven historical are:

Acropolis, Areopagus, Hill of Philopappus, Observatory Hill (Muses Hill), Pnyx,

Lycabettus, Tourkovounia (Anchesmus)], the Acropolis and Lykavittos being

the most prominent. These hills provide a refuge from the noise and

commotion of the crowded city streets, offering amazing views down to

Saronic Gulf, Athens' boundary with the Aegean Sea on its southern side. The

streets of Athens (clearly signposted in Greek and English) now meld

imperceptibly into Piraeus, the city's ancient (and still bustling) port.

Day 1st Athens

“Welcome to Athens!”, greets you the local Guide

at the International Airport of Athens. Transfer to

your centrally located hotel and check in. Our

afternoon tour starts with a pleasant panoramic

drive through the illuminated city center and we

will approach the slope of the sacred hill to

admire the illuminated Acropolis. We will visit the

museum of Ancient Greek Musical instruments and discover the music history

of Greece. Explore the greatest and only collection with 60 reconstructed

Ancient Greek Musical instruments. We will walk the narrow pedestrian streets

of Plaka, the old city of Athens. Our Tour will end by returning to hotel for

check-in and overnight.

Day 2nd Athens – Cape Sounion:

Our second day tour begins after taking a rich breakfast in the hotel. Your guide will introduce you to the history of Athens, while you see all the major sites, giving you a complete picture of the city before you proceed to the Acropolis and Parthenon. This Tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past. Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament on Constitution Square (Syntagma square), the Panathenian Stadium which was the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. We will pass through the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and view St. Dionysios Roman Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, the University,

the National Library and the Archaeological Museum. Next we will visit the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Acropolis with its many monuments build on the top of the rocky base, including Parthenon, Propylea, The Temple of Athena Nike,

Erechteion. Your Tour will conclude with a visit to the new Acropolis Museum, a marvel of architecture with a full exhibition of the glory of Ancient Athens. We will return to hotel for rest and refresh. The afternoon we will meet outside the hotel for starting our Tour to Cape Sounion. Driving along the amazing coastal highway and passing through some of the most elegant suburbs of Athens (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Saronida, Lagonissi), we will arrive at the Temple of Poseidon where you will see the

most beautiful view from the Cape with a vertical drop of 70 mt to where the rocks meet the crystal clear waters of the Gulf. Sounion according to the legend is the spot where Aegeus, King of Athens, leapt to his death off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea. The story goes that Aegeus, anxiously looking out from Sounion, despaired when he saw a black sail on his son Theseus’ ship, returning from Crete. This led him to believe that his

son had been killed in his contest with the dreaded Minotaur, a monster that was half man and half bull. We will return to Athens early in the evening for overnight.

Day 3rd Mycenae – Epidaurus:

After a good breakfast at the hotel, we will drive

through Daphni and Eleusis, and we will pass over

the Isthmus of Corinth, where you will have the

chance to see the famous canal. Continuing along

the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf, we will arrive

at Mycenae, the legendary home of the Atreides

that gave its name to Civilization throughout the

Greek World.

We will visit the Tomb of King Agamemnon and see the Lions Gate part of the

great Cyclopean Wall. After visiting Mycenae we will

continue our trip driving through Argos to Nafplio, a

beautiful and well known

town by the seaside, which

was once the capital of

Greece. We will continue with

a visit to the Sanctuary of Asklepios also known as

the Theater of Epidaurus, world famous for its

acoustics.

Finally, we will return to Athens late afternoon and overnight to our hotel.

Day 4th Athens – Departure:

After taking a good breakfast we will let you free to enjoy the last day of your

stay with traditional shopping in Plaka and possibly a nice coffee under the

Athenian Sun. You can have your lunch at traditional restaurants. The

afternoon we will meet outside the hotel entrance for your departure to

Athens Airport.
