A summer coaching camp was organised under the auspices ofCarmel Sports Academy with the intention of giving our students specialtraining in a variety of special skills. Spoken English and PersonalityDevelopment classes were also arranged for students of Classes I –VIII. Students actively participated in the same, thus spending theirvacation time profitably. Certificates were issued to students who cameout successfully.


Staff Empowerment

Teachers were given a months’ intensive training in using digitalwhite board (by Miss Raisha, trainer, Promethean Planet). Certificateswere issued by Promethean company, England to the teachers whosuccessfully completed the course. Teachers also sharpened theircommunicative skills with the aid of language lab.

On Top of the World

Our students held the fame of our school reaping great success inthe S.S.L.C. and H.S.E. examinations of the academic year 2009-2010.They secured cent percent pass with 33 full A+ in the S.S.L.C. and 4 fullA+ in the H.S.E. New Comers’ Day

Carmel accorded a most thrilling and colourful welcome to the tinytots of LKG and Play school on 17 June, making their first day at schoolquite a memorable one. The tiny tots along with their parents were takento the auditorium in a colourful procession of students in costumes ofSpiderman, comic characters, fairies and national leaders. Later, a meetingwas arranged followed by variety entertainments. Rev. Fr. JohnNeelankavil, Provincial Councilor, Devamatha Province presided overthe meeting and Mr. M.N. Lord’s Academy, VarandarappillySports Camp

‘A sound mind in a sound body’ is an age old truism. Not manywould decry the importance of physical fitness but Lord’s does it. Physicaleducation is an integral part of its curriculum. A fifteen days Summer


Sports Camp was organized in Lord’s in the month of April 2010. Thecamp was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jose Thanickal. Students of Grade VIto X participated in the camp. Coaching on various games like BasketBall, Football, Chess and Table Tennis were given.

To be in the nature, to be one with it, to see the divine glory in all itsbeauty and perfection, splendor and ecstasy, to feel her and have the joyof her presence, Lord’s Academy organized a five days training campfor its students in the month of May, 2010.

The camp was inaugurated by Shri. C. P. Gangadharan Master, afamous poet laureate on 10 May 2010. The students of Grade VI to Xparticipated in the programme. The camp was lead by a team of brothersof the CMI congregation and the teachers of Lord’s Academy. Thestudents visited various beautiful spots like Chimony Dam, AzhikkodeBeach and the paddy fields of Elthuruth village during this programme.Trekking in the deep woods, listening to the eternal songs of creeks andthe notes of the birds gave them the joy of heaven. Various competitionswere held for the students. Students exhibited the objects which werecollected by them during the off-campus programmes. The camp endedup with a formal gathering on 14 May, 2010. ‘The Best Camper’ and‘The Best Group’ Awards were distributed to the students by Rev. Fr.Lucius Nereparambil.

The camp provided an everlasting joy and peace to its participants.Orientation Programmes for the Teachers

In order to empower and equip the teacher with latest trainingmethodologies and techniques, orientation programmes were organizedin the month of May. Personality development workshops were conductedby eminent trainers such as Mr. Suresh, the director of ATMA, Prof.Varghese from Christ College, Rev. Fr. Thomas Vazhakkala from AmalaMedical College.

These programmes paved the way to enhance the efficiency of theteachers and improved upon their teaching skills, team spirit and co-operation.

The World Environment Day Celebration

The World Environment Day was observed in the school on 5 June2010. There is beauty in every living creature. There is a purpose oftheir existence. Mrs. Reji Babu, the Teacher in Biology spoke about theimportance of safeguarding the depleted resources and multilatedsurroundings. The theme for this year is ‘Bio-diversity, EcosystemManagement and Green Economy. To reduce imbalances in theecosystem, children and teachers together planted saplings in Lord’sCampus.

The new academic year in Lord’s began with a prayer session atthe I. H. Monastery Church, Varandarappilly. Students were taken to


the Church to seek the blessings of the Almighty. Rev. Fr. LuciusNereparambil, the Manager of Lord’s Academy presided over thefunction. The new Principal, Rev. Fr. Antony Velathiparambil, wasintroduced by him. Rev. Fr. Lucius Nereparambil, in his inaugural address,called upon the students to realize their potentials and work hard towardssuccess.

Rev. Fr. Antony Velathiparambil, the Principal of Lord’s Academy,conveyed the motto of the year ‘Together We Can’. He spoke about theimportance of being united to achieve a common goal.

The formal inauguration of the academic year was done by lightingof lamp which is a symbol of knowledge in the presence the Lord Almighty.Prayer songs were rendered by the students. This was followed by thereadings form the holy Bible, the Gita and the Qur’an.

Teachers’ representative Mr.Joby. C. P and the former PTWApresisdent Mr. Sebi Manjaly felicitated the occasion. Flowers, studymaterials and candles were offered by the students to the Lord Almightyto seek His blessings.

Jose Kavungal, after his 25 years ofteaching ministry at St. Aloysius College Elthuruth, is now beginning anew chapter in his life in the U.S. He is appointed Parochial Vicar at St.Mary’s Parish, Alexandria, Kentucky. Best wishes to Fr. Jose. Now wehave 11 priests from our Province serving in the U.S.

It was awesome! To conclude the Year of Priests all the priests fromDevamatha Province in the U.S. had a conference. Presence of Fr.George Kavungal added spices to the gathering. Fr. Niby gave reflectionon the Priestly ministry. Personal experience sharing was so inspiringand increased the depth of our relationship. Msgr. Donald Hellmanncelebrated Mass for us one evening. Community celebrated the sacerdotalsilver jubilee of Fr. Jose Aynickal. Fr. Andrew preached the homilycongratulating Fr. Jose for facing his challenges boldly and serving theCommunity faithfully. Everyone returned to their missions refreshed andenergized. It was our first conference in the U.S. and let it happen again!
