Packed with small particle size (about 10 μτη) porous support materials, they provide higher sample capacity and chromatographic efficiency than any other LC columns available. MicroPak columns overcome the problem of slow sample diffusion into and out of the deep pores in large particle size (>40 /an) porous adsorbents. The best way to shorten the dif- fusion path is to decrease the pore depth by decreasing the adsorbent particle diameter. Theory said it could be done. MicroPak turns theory into a powerful new separating medium for liquid chromatography. These new columns offer many advantages. Sample sizes of 1 m g / g of adsorbent can be injected without loss of column efficiency. Thus, you can extrapolate directly from TLC to high performance liquid chromatography, with the added benefits of easier quantitation, greater speed and efficiency, and convenient sample collection. Flow programming can be used without the large decrease in efficiency at high flow rates often observed for larger particle sizes. Samples having widely varying distribution coefficients can be separated using gradient elution. To get the full benefit of their high efficiency, MicroPak columns should be used on high per- formance liquid chromatographs with a mini- mum volume between the column outlet and the detector.
