Reference Gene Panel RatBackgroundFor all gene expression studies using quantitative PCR it is necessary to compensate for differences between samples due to material losses, differences in RT yields and PCR inhibition. Normalization should include a reference gene, but can also be complemented by identical sample input amounts. The reference gene should have constant expression in all the samples compared. There is no universal reference gene, expressed at a constant level under all conditions and in all tissues, hence the choice of reference genes should be validated for each new study set up. The best way to choose the proper reference gene is by running a panel of potential genes on a number of representative test samples. The gene(s) most appropriate for normalization are chosen in each study. The Reference Gene Panel Rat consists of 12 validated qPCR assays for the most common reference genes.

GenEx StandardGenEx Standard is a newly developed software based on a highly user friendly windows platform. A complete data management system together with powerful tools like 2D and 3D graphics data visualization helps you editing and pre-processing real-time PCR data. Features for mail support, and viewlet live demonstrations make it very easy to get started. GenEx Standard includes both GeNorm and Normfinder to select optimum reference genes. With GenEx Standard you can always find the best gene for your system.

Storage and instructions for usePrimer solutions are supplied as ready-to-use working solutions in water and are stable for 1 month at +4oC and should be stored at -20oC for longer term storage. 1μl of primer solution per 25μl PCR is recommended. Recommended temperature protocol is 95oC 20s, 60oC 20s, 72oC 20s. Detection should be performed during/after elongation. Primer sets are experimentally validated for use with most commercially available mastermixes for qPCR containing SYBR Green I.
