NEW EQUIPMENT Air Flow Snubber

An air flow snubber and pulsation damper is being made by King Engineer­ing Corp. This unit provides a controlled slow rate of flow of compressed air or gas for operation of continuous-reading hy­drostatic instruments and for purging

pneumatic instrument lines. It protects against surge pressures by providing a flow restriction in th^ line. The snubber is also used as a pulsation damper for pressure gages, recorders, manometers, and similar instruments.

The snubber is IVH in. long by IV* in. maximum over-all, and is made of hexag­onal brass rod throughout except for a neoprene O-ring used to seal the snubbing screw. Inlet and outlet ends are tapped for '/«-in. pipe.

Flow rate is approximately 0.04 cu. tt./min. at a pressure drop of 70 lb./sq. in.; and maximum operating pressure is 1000 lb./sq. in. Ε 1

Air supply of 35 to 100 lb./sq. in. is all that is necessary to power this 7:1 air ratio motor at speeds

built-in compressor provides a source o\ air. Variations in liquid level product-corresponding variations in the air pres­sure required to maintain bubbling. This air pressure is applied to sensitive switches built into the Bubbltrol to operate pumps, valves, alarms, and indicators.

Design prevents liquid from contacting any part of the control apparatus excepl the outside of the bubbler pipe. Air pres­sure inside the pipe prevents liquid oi foreign particles from entering. Hence, it cannot clog, rust, freeze, or corrode. The bubbler pipe can be of any length, thus permitting installation of the Bubbltrol control unit at any distance from the tank or sump, at a central control location, OJ wherever conveniently accessible. a mechanical shaft seal in place of the usual stuffing box and stainless steel alio) for the wetted end, is being made by Peer­less Pump Division, Food Machinery and Chemical Corp. Designated by the manu­facturer as the Type CTB, it can be used for continuous or intermittent duty in transferring process chemicals, including acids, bases, salts, organic, and inorganic solutions in all concentrations.

It has horizontal end-suction, top dis­charge design, with a vertically split case. Built in four sizes, capacity range is from 10 to 250 gal./min.; head range is from 10 to M0 feet; hp. range is from 1 to 10. Temperatures of liquids handled can be 250° F. maximum.

Gas Analyzer. Gow-Mac Instrument Co.'s "Gas Master" is a multi-application instrument for quantitative gas analysis by

relative thermal conductivity. Its MÎUS»III£ element is a Gow-Mac double-pass Model 30-S, which gives full response to mosi changes in gas quality in less than 30 sec.

It will use any noncorrosive cylindej gas or mixture as reference. It can be used for oxygen and nitrogen purit> studies, cylinder identification, and ob­servation of enriched oxygen and nitro gen atmospheres. fitting is being made by Tri-Clover Machine Co. This Tri-Clamp fitting is available in the full line of standard sani­tary type fittings and valves, for both "permanent" and "take-down" sanitarv lines in IV» in., 2 in., 2Vi in., 3 in., and 4 in. sizes, made of 304 stainless steel.

It consists of a flange type ferrule, a molded Hycar gasket which fits into tht-grooved ferrule lip, and the Tri-Clamp itself, which is a spring clamp which grips the ferrule edges, and a snap action toggle. Ε 10

Lever-Bolt Ring. Drum Parts, Inc., art-now making a type of ring known as th«* Lever-Bolt Ring. It combines the lever locking ring with a bolt closing ring. The cover of the drum is securely locked in place with the lever and then the two ends of the ring are secured and drawn tight by means of the bolt, giving double protection. When loaded drums are stored long enough for the gasket to take a permanent set, leakage can he overcome by giving a few extra turns on the bolt
