Tzoumerka is situated in Western Greece with a plethora of very tall mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and rivers. With traditional stone houses, mills, and arrow shaped bridges that are perfectly integrated with the picturesque scenery typical of the Tzoumerka region. These impressive mountain range, can at some places reach the height of 2.000 me-tres, and therefore a must see for any visi-tor. They spread between the Ioannina and Arta region. Most of the year, the peaks are covered with snow. With transportation by car, you will see the dense forests with pro-tected eco systems. The Tzoumerka area is surrounded from the steep mountains of South Pindos, which has been proclaimed a national protected area and it offers hospi-tality to a lot of endangered and rare spe-

cies of birds and animals, such as the brown bear. The area has entered the protective network and it is called Natura 2000. There are a lot of pedestrians paths. Generally speaking, as a visitor to the area, you can engage in a series of activities, such as, raft-ing, climbing, skiing, mountain bike, trekking, horse riding and to even learn how to bake traditional local bread. If you like! Tzoume-rka has a population of 8.000 people and it consists of 96 sparsely located villages. The Arahthos and Aheloos rivers surround the area of Arta . It wouldnt be an exaggeration to say that perhaps it is the largest of inland water in the territory ofGreece. The pur-est of drinkable mountain water, it has been proclaimed one of the best natural waters in Europe. With extensive livestock farming,

you may witness the ritual circular dance of the Greeks. With such delicacies as Giagia pie, made from the local goat cheese, you will be able to enjoy it underneath the indig-enous platanos tree found in every village. The local inhabitants have a warm, friendly but with a fearsome reputation as mountain men do. They are proud and have stood and fought bravely against many conquests. The headquarters of the Centre Tzoumerka region and the borough are situated in Vour-gareli. You will see beautiful stone houses with their red rooftops stretching along the village, with Greek cafs, guestrooms, tav-erns serving local cooking delicacies. Just a few of the delightful reasons for you to visit this beautiful region of Tzoumerka.
