NEW BOOKS
This is the third annual report on progress of the Microchemical Analysis Section of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the National Bureau of Standards.
Revision of the NBS Tables of Spectral-Line Intensities Below 2450 À. Charles H. Corliss. NBS Monograph 32 Supplement. S3 pages. 1967. SO cents.
W. F. Meggers, C. H. Corliss, and Β. Γ. Scribner authored Parts I and I I of the NBS Tables of Spectral-Line Intensities in 1961. In these two publications, the relative intensities of 39,000 spectral lines with wavelengths between 2000 Â and 9000 A were presented by element (Part I) and by wavelength (Part I I ) . In the present publication, the intensity measurements of the 1400 lines below 2450 A are calibrated, based on experimental values obtained by the hook method for tin and lead. The newly calibrated intensities are presented in three tables. All wavelengths are for normal air, including those below 2000 A.
Standard Reference Materials: Mossbauer Spectroscopy Standard for the Chemical Shift of Iron Compounds. J. J. Spijkerman, D. K. Snediker, F. C. Ruegg, J. R. DeVoe. NBS Miscellaneous Publication S60-1S. 47 pages. 1967. 40 cents.
The publication describes the preparation, calibration, and use of the standard reference material for chemical shift of iron compounds in Mossbauer spectroscopy. The standard is a properly oriented single crystal of sodium pentacyanonitrosylferrate (II) dihy-drate (sodium nitroprusside).
Bibliography of Temperature Measurement—July 1960 to December 1965. Lief O. Olsen, Carl Halpern. NBS Monograph 37, Supplement 8. 31 pages. 1967. So cents.
Twelve hundred additional references in the field of temperature measurement are presented in this supplement to NBS Monograph 27. I t supersedes Supplement 1, July 1960-December 1962, issued in 1963. The material in the publication has been collected from scientific journals and reports of investigations from government laboratories. English, French, German, and translations of Russian journals are covered.
