Delivery by automaticvehicle from the “Shopping Mall.”

Ease of movement.Easier for people to gather.

Concept of the Co-Mobility Society

Propose creating a social and technological platform.

Announce the vision and methodologies worldwide.

Safe, secure. Low environmental & energy load. Enhanced social activities.

Special Definition of Mobility in Co-Mobility Research

1. MobilityRevealed and potential mobility by using car, taxi, bus and rail road. Long distance travel by rail road, ship and airplane is not directly treated in this research

2. Virtual MobilityCommunication can be accomplished without actually traveling to meet each other→Telemedicine system has been very successful. (blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure)

3. Remote MobilityThe travel is accomplished by remotely controlled transport means. The operator can be user’s family or friends

4. Automated MobilityThe travel is accomplished by fully automated transport means

Requirement to produce μ-Vehicles from the governors of Japan

36 governors of 47 prefectures launched a research committee to investigate the real mobility needs of elder people in sparsely populated area.

9

Conclusion of the committee on the specifications of μ-Vehicles

Low speed (up to 30Km/h - 40Km/h)1 to 2 persons10 – 30 Km run per dayInstallation of Safety Assistance Systems

μ-Vehicle is now considered for implementation in Japan by introducing a new vehicle regulation.

Current interests related to the implementation of μ-Vehicles

1. Clarify the concept of safety assistance systems for μ-Vehicles.

2. Clarify the performances of I2V, V2V communications for μ-Vehicles and basic verification of introducing the Automated μ-Vehicles using I2V, V2V communications.

3. Clarify the requirements of road and traffic management measures for the introduction of Automated μ-Vehicles. 14
