(deviations possible depending on alloy)
HARDNESS AND WEAR-RESISTANCEDue to microporosity, only so-called „apparent hardness“ is measured. Depending on the alloy, it is in the 300 - 600 HV0.025 range.
The wear-resistance of NUCOTEC® HE layers is very good.
LAYER GROWTHNUCOTEC® HE-layers have a greater volume than the aluminum basic material. As a result, normally they “grow” with about 50% of their layer out of the basic material.
LAYERSNUCOTEC® HE-layers consist of very hard, wear-resistant aluminum oxide. They are formed by reaction of the aluminum material in special, cooled acid electrolytes. The transformation produces an outstanding composite of basic material and hard oxide layer.
Nature and production: NUCOTEC® HE-layers are far more compact than conventionally produced anodic oxide layers (anodic layers) and as a result many times more wear- and corrosion-resistant than the latter.
The diagram shows the relative wear-resistance, derived from Taber abraser tests (grinding edge CS 17. load 10 N, revolutions 10-15 K)
APPEARANCE AND DECORATIVE COLORATIONDepending on alloy, gray-brown to anthracite. NUCOTEC® HE layers can also be dyed decoratively black.
