This response also provides one common idea/concept to compare the authors’ feelings/thoughts about tortoises.

I think they can compare because both of them think where the desert tortoise lives is a good place for them because in “Where Tortoises Roam” the author says “These tortoisestruly are at home in the desert.” And in the “Desert Tortoise”, it says “This is a good place for a tortoise to walk.”

I think the author‛s feeling about tortoises in “Where Tototoises

Roam” is amazed, because they say “I enjoyed watching

tortoises when I hikes in the desert. They are especially

interesting to me because they are so well adapted to living

under the extremes of the desert.” I think the author‛s feeling

about tortoises from “Desert Tortoise” is lonely, because they

say “Mice ans snakes and deer and butterflies and badgers

come and go. Centipedes and eagles come and go. But

tortoises grow old and stay.”

This response provides one text-based detail from the selection and one text-based detail from the poem to compare the authors’ feelings/thoughts about tortoises.
