The European Board of Anaesthesiology recommends a standardCardiacArrestcalltelephonenumberinEuropeanhospitals.The European Board of Anaesthesiology recommends that allEuropeanHospitalsstandardisetheinternaltelephonenumberusedforaCardiacArrestcall*tothenumber2222.It makes inherent logical sense that a standard Cardiac Arrest callnumbershouldbeengrainedinthemindsofalldoctorsandnurses.Confusionbystafftryingtosummontheresuscitationteamcanloseprecioustimeandputpatients'livesatrisk.Since 2004 this standard number has already been successfullyadoptedinseveralEuropeancountries¶andbecauseoftheincreasingofthefreemovementofhealthcarestaffaroundEuropeitwillbeanextremelylowcostmeasuretoincreasePatientSafetyAnestimatedaveragecostofconvertingto2222forthoseHospitalsusingdifferentnumbersis7,500euros.*ACardiacArrestcallistheprocessusedtosummonhelpwhenapatientrequiresresuscitationaftersufferingaCardiacArrestorsimilarcatastrophe.Mosthospitalsuseaninternaltelephonenumberandsomegiveitanothernamesuchas‘crashcall’or‘codeblue’¶PatientSafetyAlert02,Establishingastandardcrashcalltelephonenumberinhospitals.NPSA2004http://www.nrls.npsa.nhs.uk/resources/type/alerts/?entryid45=59789&p=4
