Tafsir
Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman as Sa'di explained the previous surah by saying:
Allah says to His prophet Muhammad showering upon him blessings:
(1) Ω≤ς’ς∇<√≅… ð∠ΗΤΩΤ⇒∼ς≠∅ςΚ… :†ΤΠςΤ⇓ΞΜ…
Verily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (Peace be uponVerily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (Peace be uponVerily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (Peace be uponVerily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) Alhim)) Alhim)) Alhim)) Al----
Kauthar (a river in Paradise);Kauthar (a river in Paradise);Kauthar (a river in Paradise);Kauthar (a river in Paradise);
Meaning: A great abundance of good and a multitude of virtue. In summary it is what
Allah will give to His prophet [of a river] on the Last Day, it is said to the prophet :
≤ς’ς∇<√≅…
AlAlAlAl----Kauthar (a river in ParKauthar (a river in ParKauthar (a river in ParKauthar (a river in Paradise);adise);adise);adise);
From the basin which its length and width spans a month's journey, its water is intensely
white more than milk, more delightful [i.e. sweetness] than honey, its rim is like stars
abundantly illuminating the sky; whoever drinks from it one time will never be thirsty
again for all eternity. So when Allah mentioned his blessing upon his prophet Allah
had ordered him to show gratitude for that blessing, then Allah says:
(2) ⌠≤ΤΩ™<⇓≅…Ω ð∠ΘΨΤŠΩ≤Ψ√ ΘΞΩ±ΩΤ⊇
Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only).sacrifice (to Him only).sacrifice (to Him only).sacrifice (to Him only).

Allah had chosen and specified these two forms of worship by mention because they're
from the most virtuous acts of worship and most lofty means to obtaining closeness to
Allah .
Because the prayer comprises of submissiveness throughout the heart and limbs in
devotion to Allah ; the prayer shifts throughout various types of servitude [i.e. bowing,
reciting the Qur'an, prostrating and supplication etc.] .
Regarding Al-Nahr [i.e. slaughtering] it draws the servant close to Allah due to it is more
merit able with him [the servant] than the other types of sacrifices. And unloading of the
wealth is that which the souls are created upon to have adornment of and to be stingy
with.
