The BA/MA Program• Only 8 candidates selected to attend SAIS

• Expectation to complete program in 5 consecutive years

• Candidates chosen for program during sophomore year at Hopkins

• Spend junior year taking relevant Hopkins courses and completing undergraduate requirements

• Receive BA after first year of graduate degree and MA after the second year at SAIS; students attend graduation ceremony for their BA after year four, except at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center

• Participate in the same rigorous academic program; study with the same professors, interact on the same basis as everyone else with student body; fulfill same graduation requirements.

Junior Year Abroad Program

• Up to 6 candidates selected to attend SAIS Europe campus in Bologna, Italy during junior year

• Apply in sophomore year

• After one year in Bologna, come back to Homewood for senior year

• Not guaranteed admission to SAIS in the future

• If admitted, candidates receive a semester’s advanced standing for year spent in Bologna.

• Exempted from taking any required courses completed during the year abroad
