Sunday, May 8, 2016 Hymns Following the Gospel (Small Entrance)

Apolytikion for Thomas Sun. in the Grave Mode Whilst the tomb was sealed, Thou, O Life, didst shine forth from the grave, O Christ God; and whilst the doors were shut, Thou didst come unto Thy disciples, O Resurrec-tion of all, renewing through them an up-right Spirit in us according to Thy great mercy. Apolytikion O Apostole of Christ our God the beloved, hasten the deliverance of the defenseless people; for he who allowed you, to lean on his bosom, accepts you as a supplicant. Him do you beseech, O Theologian, to dis-solve the persistent cloud of idolatry, by asking for peace for all of us, and the great mercy. Seasonal Kontakion in the Plagal Fourth Mode Though You went down into the tomb, You destroyed Hades' power, and You rose the vic-tor, Christ God, saying to the myrrh-bearing women, "Hail!" and granting peace to Your disciples, You who raise up the fallen.

EPISTLE READING St. John's First Universal Letter 1:1-7

Prokeimenon. Mode 4. Psalm 18.4,1 Their voice has gone out into all the earth.

Verse: The heavens declare the glory of God.

THAT WHICH WAS from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life - the life was made manifest, and we saw it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us - that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing this that our joy may be complete. This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. PETITION CAMPAIGN

+Metropolitan Methodios Encourages the Greek-American Community of New England to Support the

Petition of the Pan-Macedonian Association for the Name of FYROM

The Pan-Macedonian Association recently began a petition campaign in order to reverse the wrong decision of the American government in 2004 for provisional recognition of the country of FYROM as "Macedonia," despite the established practice of the United Nations that uses the name FYROM. In a released statement, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios said, "I fully support this initiative and ask the Greek-American Community of New England to join me in signing this petition urging the Obama ad-ministration to reverse the Executive Order by the Bush Administration of 2004, recognizing the country of the "FYROM" as "Republic of Macedonia".

The F.Y.R.O.M. is not Macedonia; U.S. restore the truth!

    http://panmacedonian.info/our-petition/

    #THATSNOTYOURNAME

The United States Administration thought in 2004 that by recognizing FYROM as Macedonia would have brought stability. It was fooled. Sign the petition and ask Washington to restore truth and justice!

    GOSPEL READINGTHOMAS SUNDAY

    The Gospel of John 20:19-31

On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors be-ing shut where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them: "Peace be with you." When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them: "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are re-tained." Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him: "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them: "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in His side, I will not believe." Eight days later, His disciples were again in the house, and Thom-as was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said: "Peace be with you." Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believ-ing." Thomas answered Him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to Him: "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe." Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that be-lieving you may have life in His name.

Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly, the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmina-tion of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eu-charist together. Until that blessed day arrives, only Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are permitted to receive Holy Com-munion in the Orthodox Church. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with Father Chris.

Due to HIPAA privacy rules, hospitals no longer provide a list of Ortho-dox patients to us. Therefore, if you or a loved one are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office for a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nurs-ing home, assisted living facility or under hospice care.

    MEMORIAL DAY CEMETERY VISITS

It is with great joy and appreciation that we announce that the church building at St Vasilios is Handicap Accessible!

Please remember to tell your friends and loved ones who may have mobil-

ity issues that the church is a sanctuary to all and now easier to attend. Please note:

**There are special locations throughout the church where someone in a wheelchair or with a walker can easily sit with the congregation. Please ask the Sexton or a member of the Parish Council to help you find a spot.

**The handicap accessible ladies room on the ground floor has also been

set up as a baby changing station and a comfortable area for nursing moms or parents with fussy babies to sit. We will happily show you where

it is if you do not know.

    ACCESSIBLE!!
