Hymns and Readings: 11 May 2014 Sunday of the Paralytic Tone 3 Eothinon 5

Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertoscon su muerte ha vencido la muertey los sepultados ha dado la vida.

Hristos a inviat din morticu moartea pe moarte calcandsi celor din morminte viata daruindu- le.

EPISTLE AND GOSPEL Prokeimenon and Verse: Sing praises to our God,sing praises. Clap your hands, all you nations.

The Reading is from the Acts of the HolyAposltes (9:32-42; Sunday fo the Parltyic)

In those days, as Peter went here and there amongthem all, he came down also to the saints thatlived at Lydda. There he found a man namedAeneas, who had been bedridden for eight yearsand was paralyzed. And Peter said to him,“Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and makeyour bed.” And immediately he rose. And all theresidents of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and theyturned to the Lord. Now there was at Joppa a dis-ciple named Tabitha, which means Dorcas. Shewas full of good works and acts of charity. Inthose days she fell sick and died; and when theyhad washed her, they laid her in an upper room.Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearingthat Peter was there, sent two men to him entreat-ing him, “Please come to us without delay.” SoPeter rose and went with them. And when he hadcome, they took him to the upper room. All thewidows stood beside him weeping, and showingtunics and other garments, which Dorcas madewhile she was with them. But Peter put them alloutside and knelt down and prayed; then turningto the body he said, “Tabitha, rise.” And sheopened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she satup. And he gave her his hand and lifted her up.Then calling the saints and widows he presentedher alive. And it became known throughout allJoppa, and many believed in the Lord.

Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia

The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according to Saint John (5:1-15, Parlytic)There was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up

to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by theSheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Beth-za'tha,which has five porticoes. In these lay a multitudeof invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed. One man wasthere, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew that he had beenlying there a long time, he said to him, "Do youwant to be healed?" The sick man answered him,"Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool whenthe water is troubled, and while I am going anoth-er steps down before me." Jesus said to him,"Rise, take up your pallet, and walk." And at oncethe man was healed, and he took up his pallet andwalked. Now that day was the sabbath. So theJews said to the man who was cured, "It is thesabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry your pal-let." But he answered them, "The man who healedme said to me, 'Take up your pallet, and walk.'"They asked him, "Who is the man who said toyou, 'Take up your pallet, and walk'?" Now theman who had been healed did not know who itwas, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was acrowd in the place. Afterward, Jesus found him inthe temple, and said to him, "See, you are well! Sinno more, that nothing worse befall you." The manwent away and told the Jews that it was Jesus whohad healed him.
