INSTRUMENTATION: New Nikon Optiphot-Pol and Labophot-Pol Polarizing microscopes. SIGNIFICANCE: Nikon has designed two new polarizing microscopes that perform on a par with the most sophisti­cated instruments available. Yet are modestly priced. DETAILS: Exclusive Nikon strain-free CF optics deliver images of remarkable con­trast, brightness and vivid clarity. The superb optics are complemented by a highly efficient i l lumination system, massive stand assembly and incredibly accurate rotating stage. The stage is so stable and well-designed that sharp focus is maintained even dur­ing manipulation or adjust­ment. Once centered, the objectives remain in perfect alignment wi thout drift. Both instruments are extremely simple to operate and require no difficult procedures. They are compatible wi th any DIN standard compensator, and can be equipped for reflected polarized light. Any Nikon photomicrography accesso­ries may be added.
