TRIPPING CLASS

Tripping class from 10 A to 30 defines the time-current curves of the thermal overload release during starting and on duty service (overload and phase loss)

COORDINATION TYPE

Type 1

Damage to the contactor and/or thermal overload releaseis acceptable as two condition are fulfilled:- there is no risk to the operator;- no device other than contactors and/or overload releasecan be

replaced.

Page 19: Motor Switching and Protection

ABB SACE 19

COORDINATION TYPE

Type 2

The only risk permitted is light welding of the contactor, i,e. the contactor can easily be separated either by electrical control or using a screwdriver.

After the coordination test:- all the protection device functions must still be operational;- the manufacturer must prove that the contactor is still operational for further service.

Page 20: Motor Switching and Protection

COORDINATION COMPARISON

Type 1

- - Lower investment cost

- Expansive maintenance

- Maintenance stop plant

Page 21: Motor Switching and Protection

ABB SACE 21

COORDINATION COMPARISON

Type 2

- Higher investment cost- Cheaper maintenance- Continuity of service
