But, accidental ingestion may cause mild gastro-intestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting & diarrhea.

4. SAFETY/ FIRST AIDS4.1 Eye contact Hold the eyelids apart and flush the eyes continuously

with running for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, contact a physician.

4.2 Skin contact Remove the contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with running water and soap for at least 15 minutes. Apply cold compresses to the affected areas to relieve any discomfort. If swelling, redness, blistering, irritation or any discomfort occurs, seek medical assistance.

4.3 Inhalation Remove victim from area of exposure and avoid becoming a casualty. Remove contaminated clothing and loosen remaining clothing. Allow the patient to assume the most comfortable position and keep warm. The patient may find breathing difficulty and develops a bluish discoloration of skin [due to lack of oxygen in blood-Cyanosis]. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

4.4 Ingestion Dilute with fluids (water or milk). Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.

4.5 Advice to doctor Treat symptomatically.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES5.1 Extinguishing Media CO2, H2O, Dry chemical powder or foam. 5.2 Special procedure Heating can cause expansion/ decomposition of the

material which can lead to containers exploding. If safe to do so, remove containers from the path of fire. Keep containers cool with water spray.

5.3 Protective equipment Fire fighters to wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing.

5.4 Combustion products Oxides of Carbon (CO & CO2) and/or Oxides of Nitrogen. Hydrocarbons and/or its derivatives. Thermal degradation may also produce Oxides of Silicone.

5.5 Contact point

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES6.1 Emergency procedures Shut off all possible sources of ignition.

Increase ventilation.

If contamination of sewers/ airways has occurred, advice local emergency services.

6.2 Cleaning-up methods Use absorbent (soil, sand or other inert material). Use non-sparking tools. Collect & seal in properly labeled containers or, drums for disposal. Wash area down with detergent and excess water.

7. SAFE HANDLING AND STORAGE INFORMATION7.1 Handling Do not expose to heat and flame; use only ventilated

areas. Avoid sparks or smoking during use. Avoid skin & eye contact and breathing in vapor, mists & aerosols.

7.2 Storage Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place and out of reach of the direct sunlight. Store away from heat/ ignition sources and from oxidizers. Keep in glass, suitable plastic, aluminum or, lacquer-lined containers. Keep containers closed when not in use- check regularly for leaks.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROL AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

8.1 Respiratory protection Do not breathe vapors. Mechanical exhaust required. In confined areas, use of appropriate respiratory protection may be required (usually, NIOSH approved respirator).

8.2 Ventilation protection Local exhaust meeting ACGIH criteria as needed. 8.3 Eye protection Chemical safety goggles recommended.

Wash contaminated goggles before reuse. 8.4 Skin protection Compatible chemical-resistant gloves are

recommended. Wash contaminated gloves before reuse.

8.5 Work/Hygiene practices Avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes. Good personal hygiene practices should be used. Wash after any contact before breaks & meals and at the end of the work period. Safety shower and eye bath recommended.
