Memo To: Dr. Rakibul Sarker

From: Ghanim Khalid Al-Najrani

Date: 11/29/2012

Re: Homework 8

Upon the request of Dr. Rakibul Sarker the given problem was carried on as per chapter 7 of John Lee Pressure Transient testing instructions :

Permeability, k = 0.9762 md

Skin factor, s = -2.204

Storativity ratio, ω= .00703

Interporosity Coefficient, λ= 1.66 X 10-5

Type Curve Qualitative Analysis:-

First Step:-

The qualitative analysis of data in correspondence with Bordet et al. type curve clearly indicates

transient matrix flow behavior where flow regime 1, 2, and 3 can be identified. Therefore

transient matrix flow solution for the problem will be considered.

Second Step:-

Adjusted Pressure and Horner time ratio are plotted on a semi log scale in order to compute

slope of regime 2 data points, the slope of regime 3 data points, to find Horner time value at the

intersection of flow regime 2 with flow regime 3, P1hr and in order to find P* adjusted.

Slope of regime 2 data = 110

psi/cycle

Slope of regime 3 data = 220

Psi/cycle

Horner time ratio at intersection = 137.13 psi

P1hr = 766 psi

Third Step :-

Pressure is plotted against adjusted pressure in order to find P* which will be considered for

calculating the properties: z-factor, μg, Bg

P*= 2334.57 psi

z-factor calculation spread sheet give the following values

z= 0.72310

μg= 0.02204 cp

Bg= 8.8675E-01 rb/Mscf

Cg= (1/P*)= 0.000428 psi-1

Sg= 1 - Sw = 4.44E-01

Cmt = CwSw+CgSg+Cf = 1.962E-04 psi-1
