The E T H O M E E N S

The Ethomeens are prepared from n-alkyl primary amines and have an ethylene oxide content ranging from 2 to 50 moles per mole of amine.

\ ( C H 2 C H 2 0 ) y H There are four Ethomeen groups, differing only in the chain length and unsatura-tion of the n-alkyl chain and in polyoxy-ethylene content- The " C " series comes from a primary coco amine; the "S" series, from primary soya amine; the Ethomeen "T" series, from tallow amine; the "1 8" series, from stearylamine. The Ethomeens are cationic in nature, the degree depending on the ethylene oxide content. Substituted ammonium salts can be formed by reactions with either organic or inorganic acids.

Like Ethomeens, the Ethoduomeens are reaction products of amires and ethylene oxide. The difference is that the Ethoduomeens are ob ta ined from n-alkyl t r ime thy lene di-amines—di-functional amine derivatives.

Ethoduomeens are also cationic in nature, and react as the Ethomeens do—but with increased cationic properties. Generally, their water solubility is somewhat greater than that of the corresponding Ethomeen containing the same ethylene oxide content. Mono- and di-substituted ammonium salts can be prepared by reacting the Ethoduo-meens with organic or inorganic acids.

ARMOUR E T H O M E E N S AND E T H O D U O M E E N S range by degrees from completely oil soluble to completely water soluble. The carbon chain lengths- saturation and polyoxyethylene chain length can all be varied to give you the exact chemical for your specific purpose. But claiming "versatility" is one thing—proving it is something else. That 's why we urge you to investigate the Etho-Chemicals. Write today for detailed information. Please indicate the application you're interested in, so our technical staff can recommend a specific chemical for your own testing.
