Promotion - Graduation

The assessment of the course will be consisted of two parts. The assessment which will represent the continuous evaluation of a student’s progress (course work) weighs 30% of the total grading and the assessment of the final written examination at the end of the academic semester weighs 70%. The passing mark is 40% of the total grading. The student requires a minimum of 120 ECTS to graduate.

Aims and ObjectivesThe aims and objectives of the program are:

The aim of the program is to promote the development and transmission of knowledge in the field of interior design, through theory, research and applied practice and to provide students with the necessary knowledge and vocational skills and practice they require for their professional career development.During the first year the program focuses on developing a fundamental understanding of interior design and the context in which designers work, the processes by which they design and the lan- guage that they employ to communicate ideas. Based on a series of creative design projects, the program introduces the ideas and skills needed to practice interior design. Students are encouraged to develop a personal approach to problem solving by developing solutions. Furthermore the pro- gram aims in developing technical drawing, sketching and modeling skills needed to plan and design interior environments.During the second year the program shifts towards an architectural orientation and aims to provide the necessary skills for students, so as to be able to solve small and large-scale design problems and through them to gain an understanding of building regulations, specifications and construction techniques. Ideas are then transferred to computer so they can be developed as 3D models and then as Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings. Students get familiar to the meaning of spatial organi- zation and the exploration of multi-media techniques for the presentation of their designs. Projects include residential and commercial interior design.

Objectives

• To provide graduates with a broad education in interior design

• To provide graduates with an understanding of how they can successfully bridge the gap between architecture and the people who live and work within these spaces, through understanding and evaluating the users needs and proposing the appropriate innovative solutions in spatial design

• To provide graduates with strong critical and practical skills and qualifications needed for their employment in the field of interior design
