Epistle Reading
St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 12:6-14
Brethren, having gifts that differ according to
the grace given to us, let us use them: if
prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service,
in our serving; he who teaches, in his teach-
ing; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he
who contributes, in liberality; he who gives
aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Let
love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love
one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in show-
ing honor. Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the
Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant
in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospi-
tality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse
them.

Gospel Reading
The Gospel According to Matthew 9:1-8
At that time, getting into a boat Jesus crossed
over and came to his own city. And behold, they
brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and
when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic,
"Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." And
behold, some of the scribes said to themselves,
"This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said,
"Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say 'Your
sins are forgiven,' or to say 'Rise and walk?' But that you may know that
the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the
paralytic -- "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went
home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God,
who had given such authority to men.

You’re Invited to the Unveiling --
Aug. 2, Noon, Marriott Library
The Hellenic Cultural Association of the Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Salt Lake will showcase several documents, photographs and artifacts pertaining to the history of the Greeks in Utah, particularly those of the Greek community of greater Salt Lake, in an exhibit at the University of Utah J. Willard Marriott Library on the university campus. The exhibit is free and will be on display through Oct. 1, 2019.
The public is invited to the opening of the four wall- encased exhibits on Friday, Aug. 2, at noon. Brief ceremonies and a light lunch are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at a shaded plaza adjacent to the exhibit.
(Please see the adjacent map with parking and library access information.)
The exhibit space is provided at no cost by the library, which houses numerous documents, photos, books and memorabilia once stored in the HCA library. The items were recently made part of the U. libraries highly regarded Special Collections where they are safely and professionally filed, documented, indexed and available to the public, researchers and historians. Several documents are digitized for electronic transmission.
Many of the collectibles in the exhibit are on loan from the Hellenic Cultural Museum in the lower level of Holy Trinity Cathedral. They give the visitor a sampling of the personal aspect of the Greek immigrants to Utah and their descendants, including those of today. Materials from local Greek historians Helen Zeece Papanikolas and Constantine Skedros also are on display. Other items highlight the extensive public involvement of Utah’s Greeks and of the Greek community’s growth since its inception in 1905, when the first Greek Orthodox Church in Utah was opened at 340 West 400 South.
The HCA encourages the public to visit the exhibit, if not for the opening, then anytime during its run at the U.’s main library through October 1st.

Directions, Parking for HCA ‘The Greeks in Utah’ Exhibit
The University of Utah J. Willard Marriott Library is located northeast of the Rice-Eccles Stadium. It is easily accessible and has parking near its west entrance. (See accompanying map.)
There is a small parking fee payable via credit card at kiosks near the parking area. The kiosks require you to punch in your auto license plate letters/numbers so remember them or write them down and take them with you to the kiosk. You pay by credit card a minimum $2 fee per hour. It is suggested you pay for two hours to avoid parking fines.
Enter the library at its west, ground-level portal (do not go up the large flight of stairs to your right). Proceed straight ahead and in a few steps, you will come upon “Mom’s Café”. Turn right at a hallway intersection and you will come upon the HCA’s exhibit.
You are invited to a light lunch that will be available after brief cere-monies on a plaza adjacent to the café and exhibit.
