Chemical Activities of Crystals of Metals
"Influence of Crystal Plane and Surrounding Atmosphere on Chemical Activities of Single Crystals of Metals" is the title of Technical Note 1460 of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, Washington 25, D. C. Authors of the 68-page bulletin are A. T. Gwath-mey, Henry Leidheiser, Jr., and G. P. Smith of the University of Virginia. I t was concluded in general that the rates of the five chemical processes which were studied with the 13 metals of which crystals were grown and prepared vary with plane in different degrees.
