Properties—This ent i re group of surface active agents has good emulsifying power for the preparat ion of s table o i l - in-water sys tems. T h e y also exhibit fair delergency in aqueous sys tems and Agents BO and T R are superior de te rgen t s in non-polar solvents.

Agents BO and T R are ou ts tanding in their suitabil i ty for dispersing solids in hydrocarbon systems and Β Ρ Ε has excellent dispersing power in aqueous s \ s tems . Of this group, Β Ρ Ε also has the best wett ing power. Although not comparab le with Aerosol* O T (the di-2-elh\ llicxyl ester of sodiumsulfosuccinie acid) at ordinary tempera tures , i t s we t t i ng power is much greater at elevated temperatures ·

t / s e s — N e w P r o d u c t Bul le t in N o . 20 describes some of the possible uses for these new compounds . I t is suggested t h a t they be inves t iga ted as dispersants for solids in hydrocarbons and in water . A g e n t BO has been found effective as a softener for texti les and Β Ρ Ε as a wet t ing-out agent . D u e to i ts good wet tabi l i ty and low water solubili ty, Β Ρ Ε has superior anti-fogging propert ies on glass.
