Ι. TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING THE SALE OF COMMEMORATIVE AND
COLLECTOR COINS TO THE PUBLIC
By decision of the Minister of Finance, the Bank of Greece is authorised to sell, through its Head
Office and its Branches, commemorative coins and collector coin series issued following a joint
decision of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Greece.
Small quantities, as specified by current Ministerial Decisions, may be sold directly to the public,
under the terms and conditions below.
According to the decisions currently in effect, any interested party may buy up to two (2) BLISTER
SETS or TRIPTYCH BLISTER SETS per series, and up to five (5) SILVER COLLECTOR
COINS per series, from the items listed in the order form and available for sale to the public.
Purchases of larger quantities shall require written approval from the 25th Directorate (Dept. A) of
the General Accounting Office of the State, to which relevant applications must be addressed (37,

More specifically, for the sale of small quantities the following procedure shall apply:
II. PROCEDURE FOR THE SALE OF SMALL QUANTITIES OF COLLECTOR/
COMMEMORATIVE COINS
1. Application submission.
Orders shall be executed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to stock availability.
Prospective buyers have the following options:
- to come to the Head Office or any Branch of the Bank of Greece in person (or through an
authorised agent) and, subject to stock availability, present their ID card (or equivalent), pay
for the coins and receive them on the spot; or, alternatively,
- to place a remote order, i.e. contact the Bank of Greece Tellers Section by phone (+30 210-
3202762, +30 210-3203516 or +30 210-3202758) and inquire about availability. Once
availability has been confirmed, the Bank of Greece personnel shall: record the customer’s
name and ID card number, as well as the type and quantity of items ordered in a special
register, in absolute chronological sequence; inform the customer of the reference number
and date of the order; and reserve the ordered quantities for up to three working days.

In this case, upon receipt of the email, the Tellers Section personnel shall check availability,
enter the relevant data in the remote orders register, and then email the order form back to
the customer specifying the reference number and date of the order or, in the event of non-
availability of the requested series of coins, inform the customer accordingly. Remote
orders (placed either by phone or email) shall be finalised by payment of the price plus
postage within three working days (including the day of the order placement); otherwise,
they shall be cancelled.
2. For the payment of the price (finalisation of the order), the following options are available:
- Cash payment at the counters of the Bank of Greece: The customer shall come to the Head
Office or any Branch of the Bank of Greece in person (or through an authorised agent), state
the number and date of the order, produce his/her ID, pay for the ordered coins and receive
them on the spot (thus completing the transaction); or
- Credit transfer via a bank (located in Greece or abroad) to Bank of Greece account no.
GR2701000520000000059134368 – SALE OF COMMEMORATIVE COINS. The
customer must request that the intermediary bank indicate the number and date of the order,
as well as the customer’s name in field 72 of the relevant SWIFT message. Important note:
no order will be processed or finalised if the above-mentioned information is missing.
3. Shipment of purchased commemorative/collector coins to buyers:
Customers wishing to receive the purchased coins by post (in Greece or abroad) must send
the duly completed and signed order form by fax to 210-3255414. After making the
necessary checks, the Bank of Greece personnel shall sign above the indication “finalisation
of order” and fax the finalised order back to the sender, keeping a copy in the Section’s
files.
Orders shall be dispatched to customers within Greece through the Hellenic Post’s “Door-
to-Door” courier service. Shipping costs, to be prepaid by buyers, currently amount to €5
per parcel of up to two (2) kgs for destinations within Attica, and to €6 for the rest of
Greece. Customers outside Greece shall receive their orders by ordinary mail. According to
the current Hellenic Post pricelist, the relevant postage and insurance costs amount to
approximately €15.
In the event of a non-receipt of an order, the Bank of Greece shall be required to provide the
customer with the relevant dispatch details (date and number). The Bank of Greece shall
have no further obligation or liability.
