Background
• TCTP: tertiary collimators with integrated BPM buttons
• Gain: • Drastically reduced TCT setup time (gain of a factor ~100) => more
flexibility in IR configuration
• Reduce orbit margins in cleaning hierarchy => more room to squeeze β*
• LHC installation scheduled to start in March 2014, production later this year

CWG October 1st 2012
• From minutes: “The ferrite thermal characteristics after the present thermal treatment are too tight for the LHC vacuum requirements. At room temperature the outgassing flow is above 1e-10 mbar* L/s*cm2. If temperature increases from room temperature to 50 C the outgassing ow is doubled. If temperature increased from 50 C to 100C the outgassing ow is increased by a factor of 10. The present solution is within the limits of LHC acceptance but there is not any safety margin. The VSC proposal a vacuum test of ferrite with increase thermal treatment.”

Today’s meeting
• Today’s CWG: updates on impedance, and heating and outgassing after new thermal treatment. What can we conclude on the choice of ferrites? Is any other input needed?
