Outline of the proposal scope There is a great deal of interest in mobile gaming on smartphones and mobile devices, with estimates that the market will explode in coming years, with a 291% already registered increase between 2007 and 2008; and accelerating take-up in 2009. mobG intends to capitalize on this increase by creating a social networking platform for mobile gamers, which include both interactive communication, fun and competitive elements. The project will target, primarily, 4 mobile platforms, namely:
iPhone
Android
BlackBerry OS
Symbian (using the OVI app store)
mobG offeringsThe aim of the project will be therefore to provide the following functionality to gamers (e.g. mobile users via their handsets) and game vendors / developers:
1. Social networking site for mobile gamers.
2. Competitive gaming support, to allow users to submit scores from specific games and “challenge” each other to compete at cross platform games, where the competitors risk tokens and the winner

collects a token-based prize.
3. Support for game vendors, who will be able to gain revenue by participating in the service. They will receive a portion of the site’s revenue and the added incentive of increased sales for their game. The support will include the following:
o Availability of a unified SDK to allow them to more easily develop game features which will interact with the system, regardless of the platform and to facilitate cross platform games.
o Revenue sharing model with a percentage of the revenue generated from tokens spent within challenges using their games.
o Publicity features (templates for descriptions and advertising of games within the service).
