portAir-Α location on a coast or shore where ships can dock and transfer people or cargo to or from land.In computing a port serves as an endpoint in an operating system for many types ofcommunication. It is not a hardware device, but a logical construct that identifies a service orprocess. (as described for both this terms in Wikipedia)

All airports share some common infrastructures: runways, control towers, hangars, etc.It is a kind of common language developed over time to serve the normal functions ofan airport. The former airports are equipped with this legacy and challenge which isperceived as an invitation to examine the types of social infrastructure, and thetechnical, legal and operational standards an a platform for something new. Thisworkshop presents the ex-airports as ports of ideas, social innovation centers andproduction centers of visions for the futures of the city, as this could perhaps beconceived by the citizens themselves.

The three cases (Mariscal Sucre / Quito, Elliniko / Athens and Tempelhof / Berlin) have common features and a particular interest in relation to the future of cities:

In the center of the urban fabric of today due to urban sprawl and a transient and uncertain period, which have been experiencing regressions between scenarios of privatization or public space.
