Happy New Year of 2019 - AHEPA CHAPTER #64 - Καλη Χρονια 2019 AHEPA CHAPTER #64 WELCOMED SUPREME PRESIDENT GEORGE E. LOUCAS

Ahepa Chapter #64 of Harrisburg, PA welcomed Supreme President George E. Loucas to administer the Rite of Initiation and deliver the Oath to the 12 approved candidates for admission to the fraternity of the Ahepa. INVITE 1 was the major theme of his message for all Ahepans to do for membership this year. Present and participating in this ‘first of it’s kind formality’ for the Ahepa Chapter #64 of Harrisburg were the Supreme Secretary George Horiates, Supreme Governor George Papaspyrou, District Governor Charles Mackenzie, our own District Marshal Dr. Michael Billys and District Warden Christ Megoulas. The Executive Director of the National Order of AHEPA Basil Moussaides also attended. Over 70 Ahepan Brothers attended this highly auspicious and prestigious Oath & Initiation Ceremony, along with a sit-down first-class dinner-meeting held at the recently remodeled Social Hall of the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Father Michael Varvarelis offered the blessings from our community and welcomed Supreme President Loucas with the visiting dignitaries to our community.

It is with great pleasure that our Annual Dinner-Meeting this year will take place at the The Wharf 6852 Derry St. in Harrisburg, PA. on Sunday evening, January 20th, 2019. We are truly grateful and appreciate Brother Wayne for his hospitality and graciousness in hosting our Annual Winter Dinner-Meeting of 2019. Our Keynote Speaker for this event will be Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick, who not only is a medical legal death investigator, but also both a television and radio personality. We will also have the pleasure to be joined by District Marshall Dr. Michael Billys and District Warden Christ Megoulas of our own Chapter #64. These brothers represent the District Lodge of Power District #4 of PA. The cost is $30 per person, and as always, you may pay at the door. The menu is a choice between 3 delicious entrees consisting of a Filet Mignon, Pork Chops, and/or Broiled Crab Cakes all served with a baked potato and vegetable du jour. All entrées will include a cup of Kickin’ Crab Corn Chowder or Beef Macaroni soup, Chef’s salad with choice of dressing and a rice pudding for dessert. All accompanied non-alcoholic beverages including a soft drink, coffee, iced tea, or hot tea. Gratuities are also included. Vegetarian options available upon request. You may pre-pay your dues as well which will be $75 for 2019 (see attached dues list). We appreciate your attention to the fiscal responsibilities of our chapter! Your RSVP is greatly appreciated on or before Thursday, January 17th, 2019. To let us know you will attend and make your choice, you will be contacted by one of our Membership/Steering Committee brothers composed of Dr. Michael Billys, Sam Boutselis, Billy Kaldes, Christ Megoulas, and/or Dimitri Zozos who will be confirming your attendance and taking your choice of entrée. There also will be a cocktail hour from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm prior to the Dinner-Meeting. The Meeting will begin at 6:00 pm sharp and will include a report from our Scholarship Committee which will include an annual chapter review of the scholarship endowment funds coupled with any potential recommendations to the underlying portfolio, guidelines and/or the management of the funds.

AHEPA CHAPTER #64 SERVES FOOD AT BETHESDA MISSION-DECEMBER 15TH, 2018

AHEPANS from Chapter #64 served over 150 residents & homeless persons at the Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg, PA., which served as a philanthropic gesture intended for the benefit of serving the public and create an example for others to follow. Brother David Bobb, our movie producer/director from ‘Right Before Your Eyes’, who graduated from this Bethesda Mission, spearheaded this phenomenal effort. It is truly incumbent for the members of our American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) of Harrisburg to do everything possible to contribute to our community. Ahepans also participating were Dr. Michael Billys, Sam Boutselis, Dr. Zissis Chroneos, Michael Moeller, Bob Moeller, John Sempeles, and Paul Zozos.

AHEPA CHAPTER #64 PROVIDES TURKEYS FOR THE NEEDY – DECEMBER 8TH, 2018

Ahepa Chapter #64 thanks all who have contributed to this endeavor that distributed turkeys to help feed needy souls in the Harrisburg-Carlisle areas of Pennsylvania. President Billy Kaldes, who spearheaded this effort, said this was all accomplished by the total cooperation of the Holy Trinity Cathedral and the entire community. Pictured above with President Kaldes are brothers Nick C. Mallios, John Sempeles, Eric Solomon, Hao Truong, and Paul Zozos who distributed the turkeys to the 10 places of charity on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. Total contributions accumulated was $3,101.00 which

was used to purchase the 220 turkeys. Please note on your calendars, the following meeting dates, February thru June 2019. The meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Monday of each month beginning at 6:30 o’clock p.m. in the AHEPA Lodge Room, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill, PA: February 18, 2019 March 18, 2019 April 15, 2019 May 13, 2019 June 17, 2019 Election of Officers and Delegates to the National & District Conventions shall be conducted at the April meeting since the District #4 Convention will be held from June 7-9, 2019 at the Holiday Inn in Grantville, Pa. Our Power District #4 Lodge is hosting this year while. Your attendance at our meetings is always important & vital to the success of our Chapter’s goals and objectives. The next monthly meetings will take place on the Mondays, March 18th and April 15th, 2018. All meetings will begin at 6:30 pm. Dr.Michael C.
