SOCIALIZING THROUGH OLYMPIC GAMES.

Olympia attracted not just sport. Discussions about art, literature, philosophy and education were carried out during the Games. Poets, orators and scholars as well as athletes came to Olympia to read their works. Artists exhibited their paintings and sculptures.

The competitions was created in the atmosphere of justice. The body, mind and spiritual values were highly valued and recognized. First of all the body, the beauty of movement were the most important and only then the results and victory.

VALUE Greeks say: “Beauty comes from the body, kidness-

from the soul.” Sports and culture from ancient time is an important part of culture as the whole.

MIRON “DISK ATHLETE” Miron sculpture expresses great man’s possibilities. Sculptor shows the athlete at the moment united the physical and spiritual power.

OLYMPISM — is a philosophy of life, which raises and connects

the body, will, intellect and mental qualities.

Knowing how to save what has Greek Olympic sport created in the world, shows the nation’s culture, its wisdom and its ability to realize its historic responsibility towards future generations.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH OLYMPIC EDUCATION PROJECT (2011-2015)

An attempt to draw students and their teachers, public’s attention to the sport not as great achievements in the area, but as fair play and spirit of friendship. The project aims is to integrate Olympism ideas into formal and non-formal education process for all types of schools in promoting interdisciplinary integration.

Objective of the project —

to install Olympism humanistic ideals and culture, develop young people’s spiritual values and attitudes to shape a harmonious, creative and free individual.

OBJECTIVES: 1. To develop students’ understanding of

contemporary sport. 2. To integrate awareness of Olympism ideas

into educational content. 3. Develop the need for students to actively

participate in school sports community work.

Students will gain more knowledge about the sport, the Olympic movement,

Olympic Games.

PARTICIPANTS Pre-schools, elementary, secondary, primary schools, high and vocational

schools.

The project involved training institutions - in fact the list of members clarification and confirmation. Participation certificates, flags preparation and service for new project participants. Project “CHILDREN AND YOUTH OLYMPIC EDUCATION” performance scientific assessment. Project web site.

OLYMPIC EDUCATION POLICY, PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

Educational institutions accounted coordinational groups. Educational institutions organized Olympic Education programs. Searching for new ways of Olympic education. Worked on performance measurement systems by sociological studies evaluating parents and students and other subjects taught in teachers' attitudes towards Olympic education.

OLYMPIC EDUCATION (LEARNING) ENVIRONMENT

Acquired, creating new training (learning) tools, Olympic attributes (Logos, flags, mascots, etc.). Prepare projects to receive funding. Renovation of sports facilities, venues and sports equipment. Created a new web site. 30

HUMAN RESOURCES Teachers have improved their qualifications, attended various workshops and organized themselves, quizzes OU discussion topics, lectured training institutions and local communities. Teachers invited Lithuanian Olympic Games participiants, celebrities past and present national athletes, soldiers, small union members. Started and developed sports in communication with neighboring countries.

OLYMPIC EDUCATION CONTENT TO CHILDREN IN FORMAL EDUCATION OU has been added to the subjects in the areas of

education thematic plans, subjects or modules programs. Schools project participants OU topics integrated into more than 10 subjects. Prepare non-traditional lesson plans, methodological material. Engaged in a cross-curricular, non-traditional lessons with the social partners (swimming pool, ice rink, football hall).

OLYMPIC EDUCATION ACTIVITIES IN NON-FORMAL EDUCATION

School teams participated in the Lithuanian pupils Olympic Festival, organized campaigns, competitions, outings. Educational institutions engaged in the Olympic Games, Olympic, health, tourism days, organized biking, sports apparel, posters, Olympic insignia, noble behavior, and the best sports competitions. Organized events for state holidays. Organized the city, the district Olympic Games. Educational institution initiated all over the city, district sport events.

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, PROJECT PARTICIPANTS, DISSEMINATION AND CONTINUITY

Advertised municipal activities in the press, local and stateTV, newsletters. Shared experience through board newspaper, newspapers, hoardings, pamphlets, books, created a sports museum, sports corners in exhibition. The experience was shared in France, Germany, Latvia and others.
