49 - 122Nucleophilic Substitution of Benzotriazolylalkyl Chlorideswith Grignard Reagents: A Direct Route to Benzotria-zoloalkyl(hetero)aromatic Compounds. — A general method forthe synthesis of 1-(α-arylalkyl)benzotriazoles is presented involving the reactionof chlorides such as (I) or (IV) with arylmagnesium bromides. In the case ofthienyl derivative (VI) isomerization to the 2-benzotriazolyl derivative (VII)is observed.
