ADDENDUM TO THE APRIL 1964 REPORT FOR ANALYTICAL CHEMISTS

The following addendum to "The Role of the Electroanalyt ical Chemist in Biochemical Research," which appeared as a Repor t for Analytical Chemists [ANAL. C H E M . 36, No. 4, 29 A (1964)] has been submit ted:

The original work on the role of chromium ( I I I ) in diabetes was begun in 1959 by Dr . Wal ter Mertz. The polarographic study of the interaction of chromium ( I I I ) , insulin, and mitochondrial membranes was an independent confirmation of a mechanism originally proposed by Dr . Mertz. He will publish the results of clinical studies on diabetes when all of the da ta is avai l able.

The chromium levels in certain organs of the body have been measured and statistical da ta suggest t ha t for the Philippine people, the blood chromium levels are elevated.
