Information 425-452-6800 m3475A-3.19_ind The Transportation Department has been working with the community and the Bellevue School District to develop a traffic safety strategy for select streets near Tyee Middle School. Project Features ρ Installed school zone signing around Tyee Middle School in 2018 ρ Build a new sidewalk separated by a landscaped planter on the west side of 138th Avenue SE between Allen Road and SE 40th Street (next to Tyee Middle School) ρ Construct a mini-roundabout designed to accommodate large vehicles, with enhanced crosswalks, to replace the temporary traffic circle at 138th Avenue SE and SE 40th Street ρ Paint white lines to designate parking shoulders on 138th Ave SE/136th Place SE corridor, between SE 40th Street and SE 37th Street, to narrow the road and reduce vehicle speeds. Same concept installed on 146th Avenue SE, south of SE 37th Street ρ Construct colored concrete pavement across 136th Place SE and 146th Avenue SE south of SE 37th Street with Residential Area signs to highlight neighborhood entrances Project Funding Neighborhood Safety, Connectivity and Congestion Levy, Neighborhood Sidewalks Program, Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program with a total budget of $925,000 Project Schedule Currently in design; construction expected to begin summer 2019.
